Yea, but while other teams may be expanding, their attendance is also dropping. Attendance is going down across the board, and that trend will probably continue for the foreseeable future. The at-home experience is just too good these days.

We can't make the top 25 now. For me, the reduction in seating capacity negates any positives regarding the renovation.

You can't be serious.

Significant cosmetic upgrades to not just CWS but Nutter as well, recruiting areas which we never had, and suites (where the money is made) >>>>>>>>> Attendance smack that isn't the recruiting tool you're making it out to be as long as the house is full and loud

Looks nice, we should have the place pretty much to ourselves when we visit by the 3rd quarter, so we appreciate the upgrades.

It's a relative thing, I suppose. Imagine if Florida reduced their seating to FSU's or Georgia downsized to that of Georgia Tech. Heads would roll.

It doesn't bother me that CWS wasn't expanded. It bothers the shite out of me, though, that nearly 7,000 seats are being eliminated.

Yes, ticket prices and HD TVs are competing with viewing sports live. That's affecting a lot of venues. A lot of very big venues. I just don't think that would have been a problem with a CWS that seated almost 68,000, considering how big our fan base is. It's a moderate-sized stadium for a big fan base. I didn't see any positives in reducing CWS's capacity.

Florida and Georgia have much larger populations than Kentucky does.

Seating had to be reduced for:

New team locker room
New recruiting room
New pressbox
New loge seating
New field-level club seats
New mezzanine-level club seats

Three of the 6 are revenue-adding changes. Two of the 6 make the facilities more attractive to recruits. One of the 6 doesn't really change much, other than the comfort of the press folks.

Concessions will improve, the concourses will be nicer, the outside of the stadium will be much nicer, and the overall asthetic of the stadium will be much more unique.

It's a much wiser investment of $110M than bowling in the endzones and going to 80,000+ when there hasn't been a sell-out in Commonwealth since 2010 or so.

I don't get it. This renovation doesn't foreclose the idea of future expansion, but why expand at all in the face of 60,000 fans showing up for Louisville and Alabama? Why not do something that adds revenue?

If tickets become so scarce that people start to complain, that's a good thing for the program, not a bad thing.

Yeah, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. I don't see any negatives here. People are always looking for something to complain about though.

Some UK fans aren't ever going to be happy.

If the plans announced today were to expand to 80,000, there would be at least one person turning up and bitching about spending money on expansion when the average attendance this year might have brushed 60,000.

The plan announced today is pretty awesome, so I find it hard to believe someone can't find a single positive in any of it.

I've been a season ticket-holder for a number of years and I'm most likely going to move to loge or club seating, if it's offered to me.

This is the dumbest shite ever. There are plenty of Kentucky fans that like football more than basketball, including several on this site.

If you don't know what you're talking about... well, you shouldn't say anything.

I often despair that my fellow UK fans are giving a bad impression of UK to other people.

But then I signed up here and met Missouri fans and realized "Hey, it could be worse."

I'm well aware. Those people annoy the hell out of me.

You can't please everyone. We could build Bryant-Denny North and people would be pissed off about something.

I think it looks great. It's certainly a huge improvement over the current state of CWS.

The new suits and club level look great in the plans. There will be alcohol served in them as well.

Would 100,000 + people show up to watch Kentucky play though?

Well, I didn't necessarily mean the size of BDS so much as the look and all.

In good years, yes. We could have filled that in the mid 2000's.

Oh. The design of it looks similar to (I think) the Rosebowl with that swoop around. A full bowl design a la BDS would be kinda cool.
