Intresting a lot of the traditional powers have had multiple losing seasons since 2000.

1979 - 0-10-1

Charlie Pell hadn't hired his bag men yet.
8-4 in 1980. National Champions in 1984 (say what you want, the trophy is in the case)

SEC is basically a one team league right now in my view.

You're right. I cannot believe our league only has a national champion 99% of the time. As good as we think the SEC is they should at least have 4 teams wins the national title every year.

That's how dumb you sound.

Not true at all.

quote:

PAC 12

Since the Poll Era began in 1936, only two teams other than USC have been awarded a national championship by a major selector while playing in that conference:

UCLA (1954)
Washington (1991)

USC has been awarded seven national championships by major selectors in that same time frame.

quote:

BIG

The last time a team other than Ohio State and Michigan won a national championship while playing in this conference was in 1965 when Michigan State won the Coaches Poll. On top of that, Michigan has won 42 BIG conference titles while Ohio State has won 35. The next closest team to them in conference championships is Minnesota with 18 and they haven't won a conference title since 1967.

To prove to you just how little parity there is in the Big Ten, I'm going to throw you a stat that might surprise you. Alabama hasn't been to the Rose Bowl since the 1945-46 season. And yet their six Rose Bowl appearances would have Alabama tied with Iowa for the fourth most appearances in the game all-time (behind Michigan, Ohio State, and Wisconsin).

Yes, on the field is where Alabama cheated by using ineligible players, so that's where they had losing records

Yeah because that cocktail napkin Antonio Langham signed in a Bourbon St bar after the beat down of Miami in the NC game gave Bama a competitive advantage in 1993

Not to mention the advantages granted to the players who sold textbooks from 2005-2007. No way could other teams be expected to compete on a level playing field with that!

Overall strength of the league is not measured by national championships

While parity does not speak of strength either is speaks of overall difference between the top and bottom of the league

If any conference speaks of parity it is the PAC 12

Maybe not as much in the BIG
But if you look at the Top 10 finishes in the last 50 years I say you will find as many BIG universities as SEC

You are an idiot! Go to your Uncle Clems trophy case. You will not see just the playoff trophy, but some from 50 or 60 years ago. Complete idiot!

Ok, let's do that. Keep in mind they only count if the school was in that conference at the time.

1967-2017:

SEC (108)

Alabama - 28
Georgia - 17
Florida - 16
Auburn - 14
Tennessee - 13
LSU - 11
South Carolina - 3
Ole Miss - 2
Arkansas - 1 (7 total)
Texas A&M - 1 (6 total)
Missouri - 1 (5 total)
Kentucky - 1

Big Ten (85)

Ohio State - 26
Michigan - 25
Iowa - 7
Wisconsin - 7
Michigan State - 6
Penn State - 6
Purdue - 4
Illinois - 2
Northwestern - 1
Indiana - 1

All SEC schools except Vanderbilt have at least 1 top 10 finish AS A MEMBER OF THE SEC in the last 50 years whereas only 10 of the 14 Big Ten members do.

IDGF, but OSU with one losing season every 25 years. That's a multi-generational program. Give them credit love or hate-they love their football in Columbus.

I'd take that hands down....

This post perfectly sums up your ignorance. The sec was literally Alabama and TN, until the 2000s

not true dumb arse. you obviously did not look anything up. for a fact LSU and Ole Miss had and played for the nattie in the 50's. also, in the 80's several teams other than ut or bama won the SEC; like LSU, UGA, UA and UF. the SEC always had more punch top to bottom than the big 8

I look at the first year 1967 and have already seen your information to be untrue

Indiana 1967 Big Ten Champions and ranked #4 at the end of the season

Ok, by adding that ONE top ten finish, the gap between the two conferences shrinks from 24 to 23 with 4 schools in the Big Ten having never had a top ten finish as members of the conference.

To put it in even further perspective, every single expansion team in the SEC has at least one TOP FIVE finish since joining the conference. The only Big Ten expansion team that can say that is Penn State.

If I found one error without even looking at more than one year I am sure I will find more mistakes with your numbers if I looked at other years as well
