My money would be on Helfrich
Brb gotta dig up old threads that said his offense would suck at LSU

Godsey played at Georgia Tech when Brent Key was an assistant. And they were both assistants together at UCF.

he's the guy out of the three that we'd want if it doesn't go the way we want with the first 2.
was OC at Houston Texans.

Helfrich would make sense from QB development perspective. More than great playcaller I think Bama needs guy that can develop Hurts and freshman QBs
Chip Kelly would be fascinating. I just don't see him being whipping boy for Saban tho

It won't be Helfrich or Kelly because Saban cares about player safety too much to be that reckless.

Do any of these guys run a power based offense. I know Kelly doesn't but I am unfamiliar with the other two.

Kelly would be good, but seems very improbable. He could get any head coaching job he wanted in college
Helfrich is awful. His offenses have always been shite
Godsey, I have no clue about

At this point, is it too late in the game to snag a good OC?

if im not mistaken the Texans were bottom 5 in offense last year hence Bill O'Brian taking over play calling......

Helfrich's QBs looked like garbage once Kelly's influence was gone. No thanks.

Yea, I'm not a big Helfrich fan.

Awful offenses while OC at Colorado, and awful again once Kelly left Oregon

Not really. Some good OC somewhere is making $500K and is about to have an offer that doubles that income and puts him at the top program in college football. I'm sure that opportunity will be appealing to someone.
