They answer is correct to the question.

But it isn't. Are you too poor to go to college?

How many games yall lost in a row in the SEC Dale?

0

Arkansas won Saturday.

Arkansas has been in the SEC for 2 decades plus.

Arkansas has not lost a game in a row, let alone games.

Same thing happened to us earlier against Memphis. One of their players pulled Walton's (?) facemask off.

No you really wouldn't. If that facemask gave away and you were headbutted it could kill you instantly. People used to die on the field and directly after games in the leather helmet days due to skull fracture. It got so bad that Teddy Roosevelt intervened to help save football as universities were ready to scrap the game. Too many were dying and it had become a bloodsport.

Nowadays it could be even worse - imagine your facemask giving way and someone headbutting you with a hard shell helmet. Those helmets protect but they protect well enough to where players hit harder with them than they would if it were face to face.

Next question, would breakaway facemasks make the game safer?

Not a bad idea actually. Would lead to evidence of facemasks after a play is over and protects player's from injury.

A knee yes, I don't think a headbutt would be as bad.

The other helmet would get in the way. Again, designs would have to change for a tearaway facemask but it could be a better option moving forward.

play would have to stop right away once a face mask came off

True. But they already do that once helmets come off as well.

I don't even see how that facemask wound up in that position? It looks like it's slid up, but it's upside down...WTF?

The trouble with that is even when helmets come off plays don't instantly stop. In a live game seconds and even fractions of seconds count and it takes a second or seconds for officials to spot the issue and react.

Reference Gurley's helmet coming off against SC last year. He kept running and the defenders kept playing before the officials blew the whistle to stop the play on safety grounds. The officials weren't exactly slow about it either it's just that in a live game a play isn't stopped the exact moment something happens and often can't be since in many cases forward momentum or an in process hit can happen after a helmet (or facemask) has come off.

If there was a pause button for this kind of stuff it would make things easier but live games don't give us that option.

A guy is running and his facemask gets pulled off but there's still 5 defenders around him. Extremely possible someone is going in to make a tackle (at the same time the mask is getting taken off) and he's now going for a dude whose bare face is exposed.

This. A break away face mask would likely make it more dangerous for the player.

Why not just change the facemask to a solid piece of plexiglass?

Not if you redesign it to where it doesn't. We can't ignore one problem because of another problem.
