Hello,
Any experience with FB game day in Lexington? Bars, Restaurants, things to do? We will be there Friday and Saturday nights.
My wife (ULL grad) and I are going up there for the ULL/UK game. I grew up and played football with the new UK Offensive Coordinator, so I'm also going to see him coach his 1st UK game.
Thanks in advance.

everytime I've been I've just found a place to park and started getting drunk. Not sure I can help you out, sorry.

Not sure about gameday, but Auburn fans making the trip this year seem to be pumped for going to the horse races and taking tours of the bourbon distillaries. If either of those interest you on a weekend trip...

Amazing experience ... One of my favorite places on earth... Hop you enjoy

Watch out for burning couches. Not sure they're over their loss in the tourney yet.

Going to Auburn game in October, as mentioned before we are touring Buffalo Trace in the morning it is free, staying Friday going to Races at Keeneland should be fun I highly suggest touring Buffalo Trace in Frankfort even if you don't like Bourbon it is on national Historical Register and is super cool.

Get there Thursday night. Keenland all day Friday. Set up your own LSU tailgate and be the attraction for the UK fans on Saturday.

nice environment with really clean stadium and easy to get around in. I was there for the Bluegrass Miracle and had fun. Lots of good places to go eat/drink but hands down favorite is Jack Fry's in Louisville!

Hope you enjoy the upgrades to the stadium. They're going to have the bulk of it done but you may hit some snags coming in to the stadium early in the season if they have any kind of delays. We're also very excited to have Dawson.
For those coming up in October on, Keeneland's fall meet starts in October. If it's an evening kickoff I highly recommend enjoying the track in the afternoon and taking the shuttle over to the stadium.
They won't be racing for the UK/ULL game but you can check out the Breeders Cup Tour and take in the track (which is beautiful and was featured in the movie Seabiscuit). You also have Kentucky Horse Park in addition to the Bourbon Trail (this is good if you're bringing kids with you). In order to hit all of the distilleries on the Bourbon Trail you'd need a couple of days, but Heaven Hill in Bardstown is a nice trip. Makers lets you dip your own bottles if you like that kind of thing. They also use to have a Dale Chihuly glass installation there but I don't know if they still do. Four Roses has some beautiful Spanish architecture. Woodford has some great eateries. You really can't go wrong with any of them IMO.

Belle has some good suggestions for things to do.
As far as restaurants go, I suggest giving Dudley's on Short a try. Tony's is a nice Chicago-style steakhouse (with Chicago prices, unfortunately).
If you're around for lunch, try a burger at Sawyers downtown.
As for the bar scene, Stagger Inn is a country bar that generally has live music. Parlay Social is more of a preppy place.
Best bar, honestly, is at the end of Jefferson Street and called West Sixth Brewery. Locally brewed beers (of all stripes) and a great bar/seating area. Smithtown Seafood isn't bad and shares the space with West Sixth.

There will be more people in Rupp watching basketball practice than in commonwealth for the ULL game.

I forgot to mention, Winchell's doesn't take counterfeit money so your basketball team will need to actually bring some real cash when they visit this time. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks for the advice everyone.
Should I buy tickets now or can one get tickets before hand pretty easily outside of the stadium (like I always do at LSU)?

That's stupid and you know it. Typical Kentucky obsessed Arkansas fan.

I have never been to Lexington. But I did go to New Orleans once.

When Bama played up there in 2013 my group did Louisville Friday night then Lexington on Sat/Sun. We did Keeneland all day Sunday. Honestly Keeneland was the highlight of the trip.
Just don't wait to book a hotel. We waited and had to stay in an extended stay hotel in a less desirable area of Lexington

Email your coaching friends wife and have her contact the folks in Joe Craft so you will have some in will call
Will be interesting on what tickets will be available on the street. They reduced seating and this is the opening game in the newly renovated stadium.
One thing of note, even doing 120 million renovation they did not widen Alumni Drive from 1 lane to 2 lanes and they put in 2 roundabouts. Also still lots of construction going on so parking may be an issue.
As for food and drink options, list what you like on here and some folks may be able to better figure out where to direct you. Lexington is a city sprawled out it is not like everything is in one place.
