Any Horns care to explain?

Sure, I will explain.

This was never an issue before Texas got penalized for doing guns down or holstering a hand pistol or something like that against Texas Tech.

Mack Brown asked the Big 12 Office.. “why did we get a penalty? after all, everyone does “horns down” and they never get penalized.” (paraphrasing)

The Big 12 then decided to make it a penalty and everyone ran with the idea that horns down must bother us..

I grew up a Texas fan and I graduated from Texas. This happens ALL THE TIME and it’s a joke. I laugh. They laugh. It’s good natured ribbing..

Did the Texas fans get upset and pissed off in the end zone after UDub scored and then did horns down? Sure. They also could have done nothing and those fans would have still been pissed off because they scored.

In other words.. HORNS DOWN is a nothing burger and I actually enjoy it.. this is part of what makes college football special.

It's a very weird town. Everything about Austin screams I don't give a frick about sports but at the same time they are super big fans of getting offended. I guess it's kind of a weird crossroads of the 2 things.

As offensive as the white power “ok” sign?

That was debunked as a 4chan troll job to see just how gullible people are, and I see aggy has been spreading their fairy tales and revisionist history here for so long it's become reality for many of you.

I can only speak for myself, but I feel like one of those triumphant 4chan trolls whenever I see any fanbase doing the horns down, bonus points if Texas isn't playing in the game. Same goes for everytime I see someone here use an aggyism or repeat one of their absolute fairytales. I encourage everyone to visit aggypedia.com, well worth it, lulz.

The funniest part of this is that the timing of it allowed BYU to demonstrate their grandiose sense of self importance.

With the UCF incident just occurring it allowed BYU to virtue signal about "who they are".

Yes, we're BYU... we don't do terrible things like have games on Sunday...drink coffee... have pre marital sex... or even cuss. Much less do something like a public display of "horns down"... That's what heathen secular students do. Not us. We are BYU.

Handled it quite well in Tuscaloosa during the 2023 season.

Texas fans don’t care. Y’all act like this is some new thing that popped up in the last 2 months and Texas hasn’t dealt with it for decades. The majority of you have taken 2 individuals actions (guy after Sugar bowl and Rodney Terry) and let it speak for millions of fans.

Good point. Texas was destroyed in Tuscaloosa the last time they played because of all of the horns down and band being stuffed into the upper deck

Being a Bama fan, I will be the first to admit to your that there's much tougher road environments than Tuscaloosa. Yes we get loud at times and into the game. But until you spend a Saturday night in Baton Rouge with 100,000 drunk Cajuns. Or Go to Starkville and have cowbell ringing constantly in your ear. Go to Neyland and hear Rocky Top until you puke. Your first trip around the conference will be very different than your use to.

I don’t see how this relates to horns down.

Because all of those mentioned places plus more will give you horns down and much more.

It’s hilarious you think every venue Texas plays at now doesn’t do that.

I just started thinking about this hard yesterday because that's when I saw a video of the BYU coach beginning his post-game press conference by apologizing for some fans wearing a Horns Down before the game.

Coach said "that's just not who we are" and he looked as if someone had just died.
It was completely bizarre

100%

I see reactions to horns down like this too and no other way to explain it than bizarre. It’s like there’s weirdos out there that equate giving a horns down to something as derogatory as using the N* word or a heil hitler salute. All it makes me want to do is throw horns down even harder. fricking freaks

I totally forgot that Texas has never played in a place that has done horns down before or yelled during games.

Wow. Credit to the sec for apparently inventing that

Then explain why your head basketball coach cried about it after losing to UCF. You know, they've played in that environment so many times before.

It’s crazy how they are offended by the Horns Down salute, but think “Eyes of Texas” is just fine!!

Eyes of Texas meaning- The lyrics of the song have been interpreted as embracing the "Lost Cause" ideology, which advocates the belief that the practice of slavery in the Antebellum South was just and moral.[11][12] This interpretation was based on a tradition that held that UT President William Prather had adapted the phrase from General Robert E. Lee's purported use of the phrase "The eyes of the South are upon you" to advocate Lost Cause nostalgia.

So there fight song is supposedly racist and offensive and they are fine signing that, but are offended by the horns down salute. These slapdicks need to just go to sleep and never wear up again. Tennessee should have just let them become Texas and jsut forgot about them.
