Same can be said for the Tamu fans... they were already mad at Dublin for wasting time with chvis. Imagine what it will be like if they get burned on legit DCs and recruits.
I want him gone FWIW. He's a great DC with experience and depth, but i feel like there's a lot of coaches who this could be said about. "If they have a surplus of NFL players, they'd be good"

There will not be any. On the rant Chavis has caught hell for the last second losses. I imagine most fans are like me and would welcome someone more aggressive, but wouldn't cry if he stayed. I'd be fine either way

Always a solid untit the last drive and crucial third downs. There's a reason Tennessee fans invented the phrase 3rd and Chavis. We had a front row seat for it for nearly 20 years before he spent the last 7 years at LSU. The ironic thing now at all these LSU fans bitching about him is LSU benefited twice from 3rd and Chavis in the past. In the 2001 SECCG he couldn't figure out how to stop a Mauk QB draw with Albert Hayneswoth and John Henderson at DT. Also in 2006 he went prevent against LSU in knoxville and allowed Russell to engineer a 70 yard drive as time expired to beat us.

That is no doubt his main weakness and idgi. His defenses play super agressive all game and usually do really well, but in the final minutes he changes his philosophy and coaches them to be the opposite.

He is scared his D is gonna give up the big play at the end of a close game.

It was fricking torture watching us go so soft on D only on the final drive of games.

I feel he is really good, if not a bit over hyped. Also I feel his best defenses ever were at UT during the really successful Fulmer years.

To be fair, the Tennessee defenses in the late 90s and early 2000s were ungodly stacked. We had guys that at least played a year in the NFL at every spot. I would have looked like a decent DC with the talent we had.

Well then, I'm surprised LSU hasn't fired Chavis before this week.

He was the 4th highest paid assistant in college football, but he definitely sucked.

Pretty good analysis. But, has some have stated, sometimes your offense has to win ya some games too. Alabama has had a handful of below average to down right putrid defensive performances under Saban. They still managed to win most of those because the offense compensated for it.

2012 Bamaa
LSU Points in 4th Quarter: 0.0

2012 Clemson
TOP LSU: 22:39
TOP Clemson: 36:21
LSU Points in 4th Quarter: 0.0
8 of 14 drives resulted in punts
1 drive with an INT

2013 Georgia
LSU gets the ball with 1:26 left to go. All they have to do is kill the clock... Plays called:
Drive is as follows
1st down: Pass for 18 yards
1st down: inc pass
2nd down: inc pass
3rd down: inc pass
4th down: punt
They left 52 seconds on the clock.

2013 Rebs
TOP LSU: 27:02
TOP Rebs: 32:58
LSU never scored in the first half. Had 3 INTs. Never led the game at the end of a quarter.

2014 Bama
LSU gets the ball at the Bama 6 from a fumble with 1:13 left to go in the 4th
1st down: No gain with Unsportsmanlike Penalty
2nd,3rd downs ineffective runs
4th down: FG
-16 yards and ran only 23 seconds off the clock.

2014 ND
TOP ND: 37:00
TOP LSU: 23:00
4th Quarter points for LSU: 0.0
Down 21-14 in the second, LSU has a turnover on downs at the ND 1. They couldn't convert a 4th and 2. Gave away points early.
Lost the turnover battle with a fumble in the 3rd
Got to the ND 23 and had a very makeable FG BLOCKED in the 4th quarter.

Hell, looking at the other side of the story shows that the offense really let LSU down.

Yes, Chavis is solely responsible for the above derpitude.

Screw backtracking. Some people are saying Kevin Steele is the top candidate to replace Chavis. If this happens, LSU goes back to what they were during the 1990's. I want to see this happen

For as much good Chavis has done for LSU over the years, you and your fanbase have turned mightily and swiftly on him.

At the time it felt like LSU greatness not Chavis failure lol

Every team has close losses. LSU has actually outperformed in close games. We can all remember them winning games they really shouldn't have. Much of Chavis rep (and of course it also probably does have a kernel of truth) is that there is little else to complain about.
