Saban won the Sugar Bowl twice at LSU. He defeated Illinois in the 2002 game and Oklahoma in the 2005 game. This was also the BCS championship but still the Sugar Bowl. The BCS did not have a separate bowl for the title game until the 2007 BCS title game between Ohio State and Florida.

I always forgot about that Illinois Sugar Bowl. I stand corrected about Saban Sugar Bowl history then. Furthermore, I had no idea that that started. Was that for the other venues as well?

When the separate BCS title game bowl began with the 2007 game in Arizona, it rotated to all BCS bowl sites after that. Basically each site hosted its normal BCS bowl plus the title game on a rotational basis.

I still don't get the Auburn hype. Same situation as Bama in some respects and less overall depth.

In all seriousness though besides a new starting qb, what else makes auburn this good in the fall?

I final four of Auburn, TCU, Oregon and Ohio State would make traditionalists cringe for a long time.

This is a pre-diculous list.

Auburn won't beat Louisville, much less survive their trips to Baton Rouge and Fayetteville.

Ole Miss and Bama probably clock them at home also.

auburn is definitely walking into two hornets nests in LSU and Arkansas-especially after that arse-whooping they handed LSU.

You could honestly make a case for why 6 different SECW teams will be in Atlanta. I don't think I am touching an "SECW predictions" thread with a 10-foot pole
