with all the new starters in the secondary and after losing Morris Claiborne? doubt it
This is probably the biggest deal about Tyrann's departure...a new guy is more likely to blow a coverage. There's a decent chance a freshman will be taking his spot. Hopefully he's a quick learner.

you obviously are one of the ones that don't quite understand the talent LSU has in the defensive backfield, and also understand what TM7 brought to the table as a cover man in a base defense. It's ok, just that most people outside of the SEC don't really understand what this means to LSU. They have an incredible pass rush, which will greatly benefit the backs, and they have an all american safety back there, and a very possible 1st round draft pick at corner in Simon. The other corners that LSU has that are young are all 6' to 6'2"...and are better pure cover guys than TM7. You sir, obviously fall into the group of pac 10 and big 10 fans.

I almost voted yes on that poll... then I thought of you VC and voted no.

Both the Jalen's are bigger and talented...but freshmen. Coach Raymond will definitely be earning his check. Looking forward to seeing how they do.

will they blow a few coverages...sure....but remember whoever is back there will have probably 2 future first round nfl picks in the backfield with them...not to mention the superior pass rush. It will be a nice mix. The truth is that in the base package, TM7 was at times a liability to taller wr's.....and this isn't taking away from TM7...just the truth. The young guys are all fast as lightening and much taller than TM7...and many sources say they can cover better out of the base. Now, obviously they won't bring the big play ability that TM7 brought in the special packages.

would halfway expect a tenn fan to vote yes...some of you guys on this site have lost their minds with the qb and wr's you guys have....seriously.

This will be huge...and I think you are right, having guys on the end that could run track will help.

Yes they are.

Hopefully we will have an O that will improve from the mid 80's rank to the 20's. The game changing won't be needed as much.

Imagine the fallout from ESPN if USC runs low on depth (like many of us suspect they will) and lose 2 games? Even worse let them lose 3 or more games and ESPN will come unglued.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if they got to CCG with 0 or 1 losses, but run out of gas against Oregon after a full season.

it's hard for a les miles offense to be real highly ranked on offense...on points maybe, but on total yards it is a little more difficult. They have been ranked decently in the past, but the bottom line with a les miles offense is that he wants ball control...eat the clock up, control the ball.....that style of football leads to much less overall offensive plays, which obviously leads to less total yards. Points, imo, is a much more telling stat in a miles offense.

To be honest...I have a Homer dream LSU winds up top 5 in total O and total D. Why not dream big?

"Let's you know just how dumb those west coast liberals are about football, as well as the yankees."
funny, funny, statement.
i doubt you would believe that not everyone out west is a liberal nor are they actually dumb. ditto for "yankees". i'm also willing to bet that you don't even know what the definition of being a liberal is. much less a yankee. but i truly do enjoy your statement even tho it is an embarrassment to your family and any school you have attended. oh, and maybe you should travel more.

you probably didn't really catch this part of the statement.....
As an Auditor for Arthur Andersen, then Deloitte & Touch for 7 years, I was fortunate to visit over 40 states on business. As an Internal Auditor following public accounting, I was able to visit 5 of the remaining states that I had not previously been to, as well as 8 countries. I would give you my definition of liberal, but quite frankly, not worth the trouble of debating it. I probably embarrassed LSU where I got my undergrad, then Tulane for my MBA...no doubt.
GrandDad, I saw your "knee jerk" post the other day about our defense......you were put in your place on that thread.....the sky was actually falling for you.
Otherwise, I typically enjoy reading your posts. Again, I'd be willing to be my last dollar I have been fortunate enough to visit far more places that you have in your lifetime, between the air force, public accounting, private audit, and just plain vacations. Have a good day.

And if the SEC wins easily, as we should, people will demand that all SEC school be investigated by the NCAA and put on probation simultaneously

LSU is better in the d backfield without him imho. They will be missing Mo Claiborne badly this year. But, losing TM just doesn't hurt them that bad to me.

Agree, except it is hard to measure what it means to lose his big plays. In the college game, that is a serious factor.
But I do agree that as a defensive back, he couldn't lock a receiver down by himself. So I'm not sure how this impacts LSU...I suspect you're right.
