In all fairness, I really don't care about college Baseball. I am a huge fan of MLB, but can't get into college BB.
College Football and Basketball, I love; but I could never get into baseball.

Pretty sad that the network that televises such a monumental event as the CWS would think Chis Paul and Phil Jackson are a bigger story in June. Pret-ty sad.

On a national level, Chris Paul and Phil Jackson are 100x more important and news worthy than the CWS.

College baseball is only popular in Louisiana, Mississippi and parts of South Carolina and Northwest Arkansas.

It's really not even that popular in the southeast, except Louisiana and Mississippi.

And it's only popular in those states because LSU was dominant in the 90s and Mississippi is a shite hole with nothing else to do.

A lot of major universities in the north don't even field a team because they can't play a home game till spring when we are starting in February.

Is 2 "a lot"? The only "major" northern universities I know of without a baseball program are Syracuse and Wisconsin. And both used to have programs, Wisconsin for 95 years and Syracuse for over 100. Both appeared in the CWS at one point.

There's a joke here about Mississippi and counting.

Overall, league popularity in the US seems to be

NFL
NBA
MLB
CFB
CBB
NHL
College baseball
Womens basketball
MLS

As of the 2009 ESPN polls i could find, college baseball wasn't even on the list.

Most of them just say "baseball" which obviously almost entirely MLB.

Yep, I live in the midwest and nobody gives a frick about college baseball up here. We only care about these kids when they enter the MLB draft where real baseball is played.

College baseball generates less revenue for schools than Men's Hockey and Women's basketball.

Meh, that's at schools that don't have a baseball culture, or appreciation for the college game. The percentages are much better at schools that do have these things. There are only about 10-12 programs nationwide that do.
