I forgot the game was on last night (no lie) and was listening to ESPN Radio this morning on the way to work to get the results. The lead stories were, in order:

Rockets inquire about obtaining Chris Paul.

Phil Jackson out as Knicks prez.

Florida wins the CWS.

Pretty sad that the network that televises such a monumental event as the CWS would think Chis Paul and Phil Jackson are a bigger story in June. Pret-ty sad.

ESPN gives not a single frick in regards to college baseball. Zero. None.

But if drone racing is your thing then ESPN 2 has got you covered.

i'll bite.....

i like the CWS more when lsu is in it, for obvious reasons....and even considering that, phil jackson is a bigger story than any cws news that doesn't involve some sort of off field tragedy.

College baseball just isn't that popular outside of the southeast

Popular on the west coast too. But yeah, not that popular elsewhere

NBA is 2nd or 3rd biggest sport in the US behind NFL and maybe CFB. College baseball is way down the list. Not to mention ESPN has a frick ton tied up in the NBA so they are going to try and milk it for all it's worth.

Did ESPN pay the CWS a billion dollars to air it? No? Then it ain't bigger than the top NBA stories baw.

ESPN is trying to be more "diverse," which is why there's so much more NBA coverage now and little to no college baseball coverage. They view college baseball as a white sport.

No where near the level it is in the SEC. Honestly baseball is about as popular as softball. I'm anxious to see how the WS ratings compare.

Baseball has always been an outdoor southern sport. A lot of major universities in the north don't even field a team because they can't play a home game till spring when we are starting in February.

ESPN disrespected the whole series with horrible announcers. Embarrassing to put it mildly.

Attendance figures kind of tell a different story. Only 4 "west coast" schools averaged over 2K per game in 2015(Arizona, Arizona St., Oregon St., Hawaii). Only 5 more schools averaged between 1200-2000 (Long Beach St., Fresno St, Stanford, Oregon, Cal State Fullerton). That's 9 of the top 53 schools by attendance.

They report more on the NBA because its way more popular.

Overall, league popularity in the US seems to be

NFL
NBA
MLB
CFB
CBB
NHL
College baseball
Womens basketball
MLS

MLB>CFB due to popularity in large northeast markets

I like college baseball, but ESPN is arms deep into the NBA. It fits a certain demographic that advertisers target, and college baseball only pertains to the south and west. And the south and west are two areas of the country the media routinely ignores because if it's not relevant to the northeast, it doesn't matter.

I don't watch Sportscenter anymore and I used to never miss it. Too libtarded for me. I will watch games if my team is playing and that is it. SECN is fine for now. Hopefully they don't screw it up too.

You make it sound like baseball isn't played in the western states. It's a year round sport for some kids out west.
