As tough as this is for Auburn fan from a perception point of view, I do derive pleasure from certain fans who celebrate even the chance that Auburn will get in trouble. To those Charlie Brown fans who always want to believe this is the time Lucy does not pull the football away, I say get a clue.

Why is it that although there is "nothing to see here" it is constanty "nothing to see here at Auburn"?

That report is a SERIOUS buttfricking of the ESPN story. It really makes ESPN look more than inept and ignorant, it makes ESPN look intentionally fraudulent in their reporting as well as intentionally slanderous.

AU might should slap a lawsuit upside ESPN's face just for shits and giggles.

I think it was Cowherd Thursday morning that said the same thing about Auburn. He really ripped into them.

I didn't read the full USA Today article, but does that really surprise anyone. I stopped believing any of ESPN's "investigative" reports after the crap they reported about the Saints and wiretapping.
They are no better than a tabloid.
Of course I would get a little pleasure out of Auburn getting hammered, I will assume nothing till a credible news outlet starts reporting on something.

bullshite. I listened to that on the way to work just after 10am. It was in his What's happening around the globe segment. He has a guest on to discuss and the entire segment lasted about 3 minutes. All he said was it gets hard to keep defending AU when the accusations keep coming. The guest caller said with the reputation of the author or the story (whatever the dumb bitch's name is) you have to question the credibility of the story.

That was all that was said before they moved on to actual news. Don't bullshite and say he "ripped into them" when he did nothing of the sort.

Nope he ripped into them as a cheating program. From twitter:

Colin Cowherd ?@ESPN_Colin 4 Apr

say it again---in the last year a current coll fb coach and a former SEC football star--both claimed Auburn was dirtiest program in sport

Colin Cowherd ?@ESPN_Colin 4 Apr

"Colin, ever been to Auburn, it's God's country". Yea if God wanted to sweat a lot and pay fb players under the table.

Colin Cowherd ?@ESPN_Colin 1h

Auburn fan--Bama has better HC, tradition, facilities, academics and town. That's why they generally out recruit you. Get better not angry

Boom. Well, I guess that will end the debate about what Cowherd's position is.

First of all, OP's thread title is pretty comical. USA Today didn't call out ESPN...a blogger on their blog did. The article doesn't appear on the main USA Today Sports site. Apparently the editors at USA Today didn't deem it worthy. In fact, the main site carries the ESPN story.

What's also comical is watching Auburn officials' fall all over themselves trying to defend themselves and their policy about parental notification. It was a player's (Kitchens) mother who was quoted as saying she was never notified...ESPN didn't just pull that accusation out of thin air. Jacobs said that parents couldn't be notified because the drug wasn't yet on the banned substance list. All of that is what's bullshite. The NCAA leaves drug testing up to individual universities to let and enforce their own policies. Auburn had the ability to set a policy of informing parents of use illegal, banned, or even legal but harmful substances had it chosen to, and could have put that language in the form that athletes were required to sign.

Actually, I agree with you. AU should sue ESPN. It would be pretty entertaining to watch the fallout of ESPN being given subpoena power to depose Auburn officials under oath and have access to internal documents.

More comedic gold from ITAT.

Auburn and Israel
Auburn is college football's country of Israel. Planted and grown in hostile territory, all of its neighbors do not seek to subdue it or peacefully co-exist, but rather to destroy it and wipe out the memory of it.

I say this to point out that the only way Israel has survived as long as it has, where it is, is that early on, Israel realized its dilemma and adopted the right kind of policies to deal with the situ
ation. One policy to which I refer is that Israel historically has made it known to its enemies in advance, this policy: "if you kill one of ours, we will retaliate by killing ten of yours." I propose that Auburn let it be known that for every poorly put together hatchet job article/story done on Auburn, Auburn will retaliate with ten true articles on the attacker or, if known, the "sponsor" of the attack or both.

When people lie about Auburn, we should tell the truth about them. And lots of it.

No one has mentioned the fact that "spice" was actually legal at the time and wasn't on a ban list until after all these drug tests were failed? The results were in January 2011 and spice was banned before the season in August of 2011.

Why would Auburn need to report failed drug tests for a legal substance that wasn't banned by the NCAA?

So they weren't labeling their test samples? They were just catching pee in a bunch of jars and throwing them in a wheel barrel?
