Only losses Bama can afford right now are on the roads in Kentucky and LSU.

Feb. 17 @ LSU
Feb. 20 Mississippi State
Feb. 23 @ Kentucky
Feb. 27 Auburn
Mar. 2 Arkansas
Mar. 5 @ Georgia

Alabama needs to win all 3 home games and get one on the road. @ Georgia is probably their best chance, but it's college basketball and I would not be surprised if they would win at LSU or Kentucky. Miss State, Arky, and Auburn aren't that good. Alabama has a legit shot.

9-9 will not get it done in the SEC, way too weak of a conference.

What happens to this trope if 7 SEC teams make the tournament?

Only 4 teams have beat Kentucky in Rupp under Cal. I'm not saying it's impossible, its just highly unlikely. It'll be more important for Bama to keep it competitive.

Not as egregious as LSU being a 7-seed based on their entire resume. 69th in RPI, 51st in BPI, 57th in KenPom.

I think LSU has as much talent as anyone, but there's some clear Simmons bias going on.

Well clearly you don't. Our 2nd and 3rd best players weren't on the court during the first 8 games when we had our bad losses. The committee will look at that.

For whatever reason, LSU has played well there a few times recently. I don't think we'll win, but I think it'll be a good game.

Palm hates LSU. Before the win over A&M, he stated LSU was NIT bound.

It was even worse.

At the time we were #1 in the SEC and he called us an 11 seed only because of auto-qualifying from conference play. He said without that, we weren’t even an NIT team. That is so absurd I feel like he should have his press credentials revoked for saying it.

Why would you get rewarded for injuries

When teams miss key players for stretches and when they come back the team drastically improves, the committee knows that. Its not some massive game changer, but it definitely helps.

OOC RPI was bad, but LSU's Conference-Only RPI is 6th in the nation. Best in the conference. That is basically the RPI LSU has since having it's full team. So there is that.

Watching college gameday this past weekend, they made it very clear the committee takes every game into account but also notes when key players or coaches are not available for games.

4. Kentucky - slaughtered us at Rupp

7. South Carolina - beat them
7. LSU - had the game locked up and fricked it away
9. Florida - beat us
11. Vanderbilt - play in a week

UGA has an RPI of 65 and SOS of 36 right now. We have a couple of decent wins, NO losses outside top 100 RPI. 4 games decided by a possession and only 2 blowout losses on the road.

While we don't have an amazing team, seems silly that with our remaining schedule, we aren't even on ESPNs "work left to do" If we finish 5-1 or 4-2 (one loss to Florida) and win 1 or 2 in the SEC tourney we should be a bubble team at least.

while he did say he only had us in as an auto-qualifier and we wouldnt be in as an at-large he didnt say we werent an NIT team.

He said without the UK win we would be a bubble NIT team.

Still retarded, just clarifying.

Yeah and Kentucky is playing about as well as anyone in the country right now. Uliss is just ridiculous. I think it's a "win" if Bama keeps it within 10-15 points.

But I agree with the above. Bama must hold serve at home, and steal at least one @LSU or @UGA.

Definitely. There'll be some folks jump in here on my case for saying it won't be a blowout either way. A lot of potential there for it to be one of the better CBB games of the season. Hopefully both teams can hold up their ends of the bargain and make it for a title.

I agree that UGA still has a chance.

However, from watching how ESPN writers do their bubble watches, just that UGA likely needs to finish winning 6 of 8 or so means they probably get onto the list after winning the first couple of those.

I think they were on it last week and will likely be back if they win 3 of their next 4.

UK was one of just 7 ranked teams that made it through this last week unscathed. And I don't see that kind of parity going away down the stretch. That alone gives the SEC a decent shot at 6 if teams can take care of business against who they're supposed to and maybe snag one or two from ones they shouldn't.

Don't forget, UGA still has to come to Columbia. I'd be surprised if USC didn't avenge that earlier loss in a big way.
