Fred Ross robbed. Led the sec on receptions and TD catches.

Right, but again, Alabama won despite some very pedestrian performances by Hurts. He was great against State and Auburn. Awful against LSU and not much better against Florida.

Let's compare common opponents

Hurts against A&M:

257 yards total offense
3 total touchdowns
125 QB rating

Dobbs against A&M:

455 yards total offense
2 total touchdowns
129 QB rating

Hurts against Florida:

139 yards total offense
1 total touchdown
129 rating

Dobbs against Florida:

399 yards total offense
5 total touchdowns
162 QB rating

Hurts is good and will be much better as he progresses but citing wins as a reason he should be first team All-SEC is stupid.

And let's all be honest here, if Chad Kelly didn't get hurt he would easily be the first team QB this year over Dobbs and Hurts

He has bricks for hands, is a subpar route runner, and an average blocker. He's an exceptional athlete, but not a well rounded tight end.

Don't be stupid.

It's also not an award based on stats alone.

It's not. But why do you think Hurts is a better player than Dobbs?

I'm just pointing out that you have to give context.

For instance against Florida, Alabama scored 2 DTDs and had a couple of times where they had short fields. He didn't need to throw the ball 32 times and run it 17, like Dobbs did.

In the A&M game Dobbs threw the ball 47 times and ran it 17.

You could look at it from the perspective that Hurts is asked to do far less and still produces at a similar rate.

I'm not saying he is or isn't. My point is that saying Dobbs should have won because he has better stats is silly.

Hurts hasn't had a game where he lit up the stat sheet, but then he was never in a situation where he had to do so. Hurts also never shat the bed in any game the way that Dobbs did against Bama and USCe.

Seems like Kelly was having a mediocre season, not sure Hurts wouldn't end up first team regardless.

Ole miss was 4-5 when he went down, they finish 6-6, and quite possibly still just 5-7 if he's healthy. Realistically, if we assume they beat A&M anyway, maybe they beat Vandy? State put up 55 points, and Patterson's legs were actually all that kept them close in the first half, it doesn't matter who is playing QB in that game.

If Dobbs played the way Hurts did against LSU, they would lose by 30

It goes both ways.

In the least exciting objection of the day I think Kentucky Center Jon Toth should be on that list.

No Fred Ross from MState at WR. That is a surprise

68 REC
873 Yards
12 TD's

State's All-Time leading WR career-wise. Plus the best head of hair in the league...LOL

Dobbs doesn't have an all time defense winning games for him like Hurts. If Dobbs played like Hurts did against Florida or A&M, Tennessee would've gotten blown out.

And btw, Hurts had more passing attempts and rushing attempts while playing on a better team yet Dobbs' cumulative stats are better and he was far more efficient.

Yeah he lead the SEC in catches and TD's. The coaches robbing Fitz is criminal though, Kelly/Dobbs splitting second team. Despite Fitz leading the league in total yards and rushing TD's, third most rushing yards by any QB in SEC history. In only 11 games.

If you're going to put Key at DL then why not Tim Williams? They play the same position.
