How about like what happened? The one year LSU finally beat Bama with everything on the line...they lost the national championship to them later in the year in convincing fashion.

Ok. I'm sure your team, coaches and fans in the stadium will treat it as such.

Bama is our temporary rival like Florida was 2006-2009. When they go back to the dweller, someone else will rise up and try to rival the most consistent SEC football in the BCS era.

I'd certainly say it's become a top flight rivalry, but doesn't touch the Iron Bowl.

You all should get together and hold a rivalry meeting so y'all can all be on the same page with this.

"Everywon not in fabr of calling dis' here team a ribal, raise ur pom poms. Everywon in fabr, raise em' anywho because we love our roll damn tahd pom poms!"

Y'all hold that meeting while LSU fans are holding theirs about who sucks more this year, LSU or LSU.

By definition, since Saban has gotten there this has been a great rivalry. I mean, the teams met in a BCS title game after playing once during the regular season two years ago. LSU is not a traditional rival like Bama and AU, etc. That's a different thing and always will be. But right now, by definition, LSU is a rival. A lot of LSU fans enjoyed beating Auburn more before Saban got to Bama. That felt like more of a rivalry then. So this seems like just an at-the-moment thing right now.

It's my favorite rivalry, regardless of how other Bama fans feel.

Let's have another classic this weekend.

Iron Bowl is a bigger game this year.

Amazingly. Different people can have different opinions. For example I personally look at LSU as a great game but not necessarily a rival. Where as my roommate, hates you sons of bitches more so than Ut and Au combined. Weird. I know.

A big chunk of this game's national draw and significance is due to the Saban/Miles story line. As soon as one leaves, or one program becomes irrelevant, this "rivalry" dies.

Auburn/Bama, Michigan/OSU, OU/Texas will stand the test of time through lean years, but the only difference between Auburn/LSU and Alabama/LSU is the coaching story line. AU/LSU was the game with division and conference implications before Saban arrived.

Did y'all hate Aubie as much as you hate us now?

No problem there, but as you can see, some fans try to speak for the whole fanbase...

I think a small portion of LSU fans (maybe 5-10%, myself included) still hate Auburn more than any other SEC team. Our 10-9 loss in 2004 and 7-3 loss in 2006 had Auburn hate at an all time high, and the 2005 missed FG game and 2007 D Byrd catch probably did the same for the Aubs. Cigar game, Earthquake game, Barn burning game, etc. are other classic games that LSU/Bama hasn't traditionally had.

ETA: After I typed it out, I noticed that AU/LSU truly had some epic games just this past decade. It would still be the game in the West if not for Saban, IMO

Why is it such an issue with you guys? Do you sell rivalry T-shirts? Some of y'all seem pretty emotionally invested in labeling this match-up. I guess call it whatever you want!

It's not an issue for me. An LSU fan didn't write this article. I think Bama fans are the ones that have an issue with it - some saying it's not a rivalry and some saying it is...

I just call it a game. But since this guy wrote an article about it being a great "rivalry," by defintion of the term rivalry, I agree with it at the present time.

Things got pretty chippy when Tubbs was there. After the cigar game, you had the Auburn kicker getting shoved by the LSU band during a half time performance, Auburn getting penalized 15 yards in Tiger Stadium for unsportsmanlike conduct about 20 minutes before the game actually started , etc. I've never seen anything like that in my life.

Damn. Can't say I have ever seen anything like that. What was it for?
