What makes Miss St. legit is they with Ron Polk put SEC baseball on the map.

If USC was in the SEC back then the USC/Miss State games would've been the first HUGE SEC matchups.

You have a meager 4 CWS appearances, which is basically what I went by

Vandy has 1 appearance, yet they are tier 3. Your logic makes sense.

ETA: nice edit to your post.

I see 1 elite team, 1 closing the gap, and a handful of teams that can make a run. I reserve judgement on Texas A&M and Missouri till after I have seen them play a full SEC baseball schedule.

It depends on your definition of elite imo. SC is a top 10 program all time, LSU is top 5.

Truth. Even though they didn't win any championships, they are a big reason the SEC is as good as it is today.

Yep. We made the CWS numerous times... just couldn't quite win it all

I'm not sure if we even have an all time losing record to any other SEC school.

LSU is elite

South Carolina is becoming elite

The worm has turned from Clemson to South Carolina since the Cocks joined the SEC. Going forward I can see the Tigers of SC falling behind at the expense of their in state SEC rival.

Elite Baseball programs of the SEC
Well, I think Alabama is an obvious answer.

SC isn't LSU all-time, no doubt. But I don't believe it's a stretch to say SC is elite now.

From 2000-2004, winning-est program in the NCAA. From 2000-09, we had the 4th most wins in the country, most in the SEC. Not only did we win 2 titles, we played for one more.

Yeah I'd go with LSU and South Carolina as the two elite SEC baseball teams.

A&M would be 1st or 2nd in the West this year and in my opinion 2nd or 3rd in the SEC. I also think that baseball will be the first of the major 3 that the Aggies get a SEC title in.

LSU baseball is elite far beyond the SEC. The Tigers have won 6 national titles in the last 20 years or so. That's like New York Yankee/Pittsburgh Steeler/LA Laker/Boston Celtic elite.

South Carolina = 2 in 10 tries (5 appearances as SEC member including 2 CWS)

Lets not forget 10th all time in CWS wins, along with LSU the only 2 teams in the SEC in that top 10. And current and ongoing record holders of NCAA consecutive tourny wins and consecutive CWS wins.

And we're 3X runner-ups. So close to being one of the "true" blue bloods of college baseball.

Thanks to the dark period pre Nick Saban I think of LSU as a baseball school.
