Try to be objective/unbiased. Marshawn Lynch also eligible for the 2025 class.
Eli Notes in favor:
- 2x SB champion (objective)
- Beat arguably greatest NFL team ever led by Brady (subjective/objective if you look at how objectivey good that Pats team was)
- Top Ten all-time currently in passing yards and TDs.

Naw. He had maybe two seasons in his entire career where you can consider him a top ten QB. His candidacy revolves entirely around two team accomplishments that he was neither the primary nor secondary contributor towards.
Part of me wants to say no to Lynch, but I’m more lenient on the Hall than most especially when it comes to NFL guys. Just looking at his numbers, I would lean to no, but he has the moment factor. Above everything else, the Hall of Fame is a celebration of the game. You can’t have a place that celebrates the game and exclude the guy who is responsible for Beast Mode. That moment paired with his close enough resume makes him a yes for me.
The problem for Lynch is that the NFL has the hardest HOF to get into because of self-imposed limitations.

No. Honestly, he was good but not great

Yes. 2x SB MVP, spent his entire career in the biggest media market and playing outside in the northeast.

Interesting convo, for sure.
I think he’s probably got good enough numbers (with 2 SBs) that he eventually gets into the HOF. I would be surprised if he’s first ballot.
The problem with Eli is that everybody remembers him as a QB that was above average at best for the vast majority of his career, and had a few seasons of being straight up below average. He’s got a mediocre W/L record, not sure he was ever named All Pro, and he played during an era that he will always be overshadowed by other guys at his position, as he should.
Without those 2 SB wins, I’m not sure he ever sniffs Canton. But he’s got them, so…

I lived up there when he was there. He was loved in the city. He would do appearances at the Gentlemen’s Club (kinda like a country club of rich old men in the city). And I always thought part of the reason he was liked was influenced by the fact he blended in well with that crowd. That was a tough room to impress unless you know, you talk proper, talk money, kiss arse, wear a tie. Working rooms like that felt like work to me. But to him, I think he felt at home.

He's going to make the HoF but he was never really a top quarterback in the league in his career. Two great defenses dragged the opponent down so he only needed to hit a few big passes late in Super Bowls and that is why he will make it to Canton.

I don’t think this is debatable, personally. That’s a yes for me dog

Yes the superbowl count for a lot

2X SB winning QB and top 10 in passing and 10 TD’s he is absolutely in. Not a first ballot but he is in.

Namath is in, so probably.

I do not know what this means, sir.

I lean no.
Think over the last 20 years. How many QBs would rank ahead of him?
Brady
Brees
Peyton
Big Ben
Rodgers
Farve
Mahomes
7 easily way better.
Then the next field is kind of crowded.
Rivers
Ryan
Wilson
Flacco
Stafford
McNabb
Romo
Vick
Manning
Cousins
Newton
Palmer
Out of this group, I probably have him bottom half.
Maybe he's a top 15 QB over the last 25 years. Is that HOF worthy? Probably not.

Not voting yet, interested to read the comments objectively (unlike the garbage trolls around here, like Tuscaloser that shite talk even if its a stupid argument), and then decide.

He's like an MLB player who played for 20+ years, batted .250, and got to 3000 hits. Sure, that is impressive as hell, but he probably wasn't a great player at any point in his career.

Joe Namath HOF [Yes] or [No]
Then Eli should definitely be in.

What did I misspell?
I said I’m not sure if he was ever named All-Pro. According to others, he wasn’t. I couldn’t remember.
