The Egg Bowl this year is shaping up to be an offensive shootout. However, behind the two high powered offensive attacks, are two of the nations premiere DT's. 3rd year starter and former #1 recruit Robert Nkemdiche for Ole Miss, and first year starter Chris Jones for Mississippi State.

Both have had quite the career, here are their numbers. Highest numbers in each of the 6 categories are in bold.

2015 / Career

Tackles:
CJ: 30 / 88
RN: 22 / 70

TFL:
CJ: 6.5 / 16.0
RN: 5.5 / 14.5

Sacks:
CJ: 2.5 / 8.5
RN: 1.5 / 4.5

What were Chris Jones' stats in his wins against Bama and LSU?

I know that tRant is well known to have some of the best football minds in the business, but just for shits and giggles, let's table this thread and see what the NFL scouts have to say on draft day.

Of course you would. But on field performance says your preference and the better player are two different things.

Ask Nick Saban and Lane Kiffin who was more difficult to stop. Ask any coach who played both teams which one they focused on double teaming and avoiding. Stats don't tell everything.

I can't believe the hype machine hasn't caught onto Jones yet, his college career being 3 years old. Bear-controlled media in action.

Ask Arkansas. The truth is Nkemdiche gets double teamed no more than Jones. Hell, probably less that Jones because you have Haynes for people to worry about.

Well, blame Mullen for starting seniors instead. Even though Eulls does start for the Saints now. But if we are lucky it buys us a 4th year out of him, I would be just fine with that.

Man, y'all are milking that one-point fluke loss to Arky for all it's worth. Congrats on beating Arkansas, the measure by which all teams should apparently be measured.

No, his skillset thus far will be what buys him a 4th year because he's just not good enough to go pro as a junior. Sorry.

I like Chris Jones and I think he's a great player, but he does not get the attention from opposing offensive coordinators that Nkemdiche gets. You're probably the same person who will say Wilson is as good if not better than Treadwell.

We probably doubled Nkemdiche more than Jones (would have to actually rewatch the game to tell for certain) but I was much more impressed with Jones. Nkemdiche last two games against us havn't been very impressive.
