Hope you haven't moved to CS yet. The Graduate Studies Department is reconsidering your acceptance.

I could be completely wrong here, but I imagine white shirts were cheaper to make as well as it being hot.

As anyone over the age of 30 could tell you... white is cooler when you wear it in the sun. You don't get as hot. /thread

Prior to cable TV and the rule changes in the 1980's, there were like 3-4 games on a weekend.

There was a rule where your team couldn't be on TV during the regular season more than 5 times in 2 years. That changed in 84 or 85 when the SCOTUS ruled against the NCAA control of television rights. The CFA was formed and BOOM went college football on TV.

Wearing a jersey used to be reserved for guys on the team, or people fricking guys on the team.

When I see a grown man wearing a jersey it is creepy hero-worship.

Was wondering the same thing.

That game was played in November and it was pretty cold, so wearing white because it's cooler doesn't make sense.

Back in the day it was dorky to wear your team's Jersey

You are still a dork if you wear a jersey as a grown man.

Look at baseball pictures from the 1940's and 1950's (and earlier) you'll see many men in coats and ties and hats and the ladies in dresses and gloves.

We're evolving downward when it comes to dress. Grown men think nothing of wearing cut offs, flip flops and team jersey's to games. By the early 80's, casual for games was kaki pants and a white button down. Most of the fraternity guys wore blue blazers as well.

Not to mention ... white goes really well with BBQ sauce and beer.

Definitely true in the 80s. I remember being a kid and seeing the student section full of blue blazers.

So is Alabama not as hot as it was 20-30 years ago? Do people wear more Crimson now because of the new ice age that has hit the South?

When I was a freshman at Vandy in 1970, wore a sport coat and tie to first game. By sophomore year was pretty much over that custom.
