I NEVER saw what others saw in Richardson - and I mean throughout his entire college career.

I have not seen him play one game in the NFL, but Richardson always seemed like he made himself an easy target when he ran. I didn't think that would translate well to the next level. He runs "square" and his body doesn't shift as well.

The guy would take licks in college that he had no business taking.

So you choose one game?
In 2011 TRich had more rushing yards( 1679) than Eddie Lacy had Total Yards from Scrimmage( 1511) in 2012.
TRich almost had more tds, just in 2011) than ELacy had his entire career. TRich never had less than 700 yards rushing at bama. ELacy had OVER 700 yards just once.

Trent was 2nd string for two years and the starter for one.

Eddie was 3rd string one year, 2nd the next, then the starter. And the year he was the starter he split time with another 1000 yard back.

I always loved watching Lacy even as an AU fan. Guy had a dirty spin move and played like a man possessed. I always thought TRich was overrated and a product of a good OLine. Ingram I though would do well since he was on the Saints. Lulz to LSU/Saints fans running all over them in college only to blow in the pros

I also thought Trent was an ironclad lock to be successful, and didn't see Eddie doing so well.

He graded out as one of the best rbs , in the draft, in a decade. Hell he went top 5 as a rb, in a very pass happy league. It's rare for a rb to be drafted that high , in today's nfl.

I'm not surprised. LSU fans can see things the rest of us just don't see as easily - like the NFL future of Bama players, and the psyche of Nick Saban. It must be voodoo or something.

Its laughable how so many poster say they didn't think TRich would make it in the nfl.
Every scout( gets paid to evaluate talent) and GM says your stupid.
He had the 3rd best rb grade from Mayock, since 2000.

It's laughable how much it pisses people off for someone to simply have an opinion on a board. Hell, they both played football at Alabama. I have no dog in the fight.

I never liked TRich's shiftiness. Maybe I should be a scout. Obviously I knew more than they did.

Link? I call bullshite on you thinking TRich wouldn't make it in the nfl. He was the best rb prospect since Reggie Bush. There is absolutely nothing in his game film from bama that would lead you to think he wouldn't be successful. Nothing.

frick man you'll have to go back and look. I'm sure I said something along the lines of him not being very shifty. I just didn't see all the hype. As far as measurables, sure, he's a stump that runs a 4.4 in pads. But that would make a good linebacker too.

He just had a knack for getting hit straight up in college. He would get hit and bounce off usually or truck someone maybe, but the guy would get stuck. And he would stay up and continue to get pounded despite being stood up at times. That isn't good on durability. You have to make some of those guys miss to make it as a RB in the NFL especially.

I've been very happy with his performance, considering we hadn't had a RB rush for 100+ yards in 38 games going back to the 2010 Super Bowl run this has been a big improvement. We've had five games with 100+ just this year...four from Lacy and one from Starks...if only our QB was healthy

EDIT- had the game count wrong

4.4 is flying. There aren't any backs as big as TRich that can run a 4.4.

Richardson also averaged less than 6 yards per carry in 2011. Lacy averaged 6.5 YPC in 2012 and had a back-up who rushed for over 1,100 yards.

Trent Richardson was better than Eddie Lacy in college, Eddie Lacy is better than Trent Richardson in the NFL. Trent Richardson and Mark Ingram are basically garbage backs in the league, while Eddie Lacy is the real deal.

Oh...I also noticed that Lacy went over 1,000 yards on the season today. He's officially at 1,028 and that's with missing 3 games this season.

I posted a picture on the MSB showing one reason for Trent's struggles: VISION.

Trent chose the yellow path

He has looked like the guy we expected when he is able to get out in space, but half the time he seems to just charge into a pile of people.

Ingram had good vision and a great first step. To be effective, he has to get into the flow of the game and learn how the DL / LB play off of blocks. Gets better as the game goes.

TRich had power and pretty good speed but lacks vision. He has to learn how his blockers work then play off of them rather than reading the DL / LB. Changing teams mid season completely screwed up his ability to know where his blockers would be. Should do better next year if he can keep the body blows down to stay healthy.

Lacy had great vision and was better at not absorbing full impact. Not a great first step but good top end speed for his size. Does not run with as wide a base as either Ingram or TRich but uses his spin and the inertia of the tackler for radical dirrection changes rather than the horizontal cuts Ingram uses.

Ingram needs lots of carries in a game to get rolling. TRich needs time with the line to learn where to run. Lacy just needs the ball and his ankles to be stable enough to avoid the big hits.
