I don't like blaming the refs, especially since our offense put up zero points, but when you see this kind of thing in multiple games, one can start to believe that it is real. Bama/A&M, Bama/Tennessee, and Bama/LSU all had questionable call/no calls. To be honest, I think Bama would have beaten all those teams regardless of the bad calls, so why give them another advantage?

Good on Ed! He is working hard to get that HC job, and in the wake of hard fought loss this will ingratiate him even more with his fan base.

Bitching to the SEC office about holding is preaching to the converted. Orgeron must read Tiger Rant

Ed knows how to season that gumbo just right for his folks on da bayah.

This is just what they want see today, as if he needed anything else to further his campaign for HC.

Bama first drive also had a late hit out of bounds by LSU. Never called

That one was pretty blatant. Couldn't believe it wasn't called. Was extremely late.

Yeah, clearly. Perfect example of targeting. Hitting him with crown of the helmet to the helmet of the offensive player. Textbook. Unreal that Foster wasn't ejected for this massacre.

FWIW

quote:

No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent (See Note 2 below) with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul (Rules 2-27-14 and 9-6). (A.R. 9-1-4-I-VI)

He doesn't look like he's down yet in the first picture.

He doesn't need to be on the ground.

Here's the rule:

quote:

Sliding Ball Carrier: Defenseless Player
There are several situations where a player is considered "defenseless" for purposes of the targeting rule. Examples include a pass receiver who is concentrating on catching the ball and a kick-return man awaiting a punt. This year the committee added the ball carrier who has "obviously given himself up and is sliding feet-first."

Funny how 102k fans could see it though.

And it is still a -thing- where the SEC officals called the CBS crew in the booth and misrepresented the way the rules read in that TAMU game.

A player is not down once he starts to slide. He isn't down until he's down. You can still gain a yard in the process of your slide.

As he should, the phantom false start on Ross Pierschbacher and the no call hold on Dalvin Tomlinson on a Derrius Guice run was horrendous.

Let's not mention Tim Williams getting mugged and then tackled.....

We have to understand that the refs had to do something to make it appear that they weren't showing Bama favoritism. I mean they had to give Bama more penalties than LSU.
