If you needed to melt an entire fanbase, which one would you go with?

LSU trolls themselves.

That should pretty much sum it up for you.

Either Mizzou or Ole Miss right now.

Overall LSU obviously.

I know LSU pretty well. They always melt down so hard, to the point where it's depressing.

ETA: a friend of mine basically shut down after Wisconsin and still hasn't recovered. I don't even mess with them.

No offense to State, but I think they would literally burn BR to the ground.

Some of us maybe, but in general we roll with too many punches to make us too much fun.

I am just trying to be honest.

Auburn fans suck for trolling because very often y'all won't take the bait. Now y'all will melt like fricking crazy in some random other thread someone else started to not troll Auburn fans, but if someone tries to troll y'all it's "nope nope nope."

Hell, here is my full analysis from 2015 for how to get behind the shield of each fanbase. It still applies a year and a half later, even if it is a little Aggie specific:

KEY

Throw The Jar (TTR)- Throwing the jar is putting out a firm and forceful statement. People will call it a troll, but don’t troll just be firm and honest and say something half way intelligent but direct and slightly negative about the team you are targeting.

The Rant Haters (TRH)- these posters hate conversation and everyone because they lack a brain. Don’t engage them. It only empowers them. They are neutralized by the next one in the list, my strongest weapon for targeted conversation.

LSU Fan Filter (LFF)- the proven tactic of writing posts only in large paragraphs at a 10th grade reading level or higher with a ton of words. I am talking a big fat wall of text that explains your position like an AP writing test. If you want good conversation on the Rant it has to start with you, and that means your early posts or OP in a thread better be using this unless otherwise noted. The TRHs go tldr and you get conversation.

Ok here we go. For each I will assign a difficulty rating on a scale of conversation 1-10, 1 being your BFF and 10 being a brick wall.

Alabama (3)- Underrated as a fanbase on here because there are so many of them and the average IQ of the base is low. But let me tell you within that group are some smart people who know football, know SEC football, and can teach you some stuff. To engage them just put out a LFF thread asking a question and ignore the eventual TRHs or Auburn responses. You will get good responses eventually, reply to those. Bama fans lack the superiority complex certain fanbases have because they are secure about their place in college football so they don’t rub crap in your face the whole time. They might be a good place to start if you want to talk football and history. Shy away for stuff like the money and be light on the LFF. Just deal with the haters.

Arkansas (8)- Their defensive perimeter is amazing, the best on here. I wish we had one that good. If you rush the front door it takes a thread of TTRs (I have gone like 30 pages deep) to get past their defensive sail posts and to get them to be straight that way. They will eventually break because they are determined, but jeez it is hard. Their average IQ is high and they will be candid. I like Arky fans on here.

Auburn (7) – they are kinda hard because you can’t just make a thread about them. They will all just go lol in response or some crap. They are sneaky and somewhat smart so to engage with Auburn fans you need to ask the good ones your questions in other relevant threads. Then it is actually pretty easy, like having the right weapon for a boss in Mega Man. I have loved some conversations with some Auburn fans, they are like me with all the GOT big picture stuff. Also praising Bama quickly gets past their defenses.

Florida (3)- They will respond as much as they want to and it will be smart and all, but it will feel like a PR Release. Which is the problem with them, they live for brevity on here like their damn dirty laundry is special or something. I have tried good TTRs and going negative but that doesn’t help. It isn’t so much a defensive system but apathy for talking to you, which is hard to beat. The best you can hope for is they talk amongst themselves in your thread and you get the dirt then maybe.

Georgia (9)- So they are the France of the SEC Rant, complete with their own version of the The Maginot Line. They will deflect deflect deflect and NEVER spill the beans if you just ask them nicely. EVER. Almost like turtles. You have to bust their bunker with the biggest and most negative TTR you can muster, and then wade through the consequences. But after the consequences if you do it right with some humility combined with more direct and firm questions you will get the scoop. Honestly they are not worth it I think. Only reason they aren’t a 10 is because LSU fans don’t care about them so you don’t need a LFF to avoid TRHs. What is cool about Georgia fans though is they are SEC knowledgeable overall, so the smart ones will weigh in on a SEC West thread anyway. So let them be condiments and not the meal.

Kentucky (2)-Just ask them something about basketball in a completely non troll fashion. They get so excited someone cares about basketball that they will engage, even during the season. They really know some basketball. Bring up football in the middle and you got eeeem.

LSU (10) – Hardest fanbase to have a real conversation with, but easiest to troll. You have to throw out so many TTRs mixed with humility mixed with reverses mixed with not blowing the LFF accidently while doing it to NOT troll them. I have learned a lot from LSU fans on here, there are smart ones and this is their site. But jeez there are a lot of dumb ones, and ones who have Texas as a close second favorite team (or at the very least they are addicted to the Texas superiority complex thing). I have learned the most getting scolded why I am wrong, or in a thread title “Everyone But LSU Fans…” They just want to be contrary, so save them for those of us who enjoy trolling and ignore otherwise.

MSU (4)- they have a defensive perimeter but its weak. Like a crap TTR can get through. The problem is that once you get in there isn’t a lot there unless you want to talk about baseball, Jackie Sherrill, or gossip related to Ole Miss. I like the dogs but if you are looking for intelligent conversation I wouldn’t start with them. Unless you want the dirt on Ole Miss and then hello!

Mizzou (2)- I love these guys. They are a little skittish so be firm to get a response, but never go to a TTR. They respond really poorly to negativity and Rant intensity, it is completely different with them. But wow they great to talk with, and they will really spill the beans on everything like you are their best bud if you just smile at them. I say start with them, only hard part is finding out bonding points but we have played a lot recently and they were expansion buddies so that helps. Great great fanbase on the rant who is smart overall and more balanced than all the rest of us (including Vandy). Actually they are harder for me than they would be for you because I am an intense guy. Oh and don’t worry about the LFF because it is not needed.

Ole Miss (5)- the only hard part with them is the massive range. The two dumbest by the median fanbases on the rant are these guys and Tenn. But they have some smart ones who really know their history too so I think it is worth trying. The other issue with them is if they get in a bickering war with MSU fans it turns into a Eggbowl/ole marriage thread and you won’t get a word in. So my trick is to engage a strong LFF, because being a LSU rival you get a lot of TRHs otherwise, and be direct but respectful. You never need to TTR as these guys will whip their own backs. Seriously you have never met a more beat down fanbase in your life, unless it is the grove and they will kill you for saying bad things about it. I like them overall for conversation.

USC (NA) – used to be the easiest people to talk to on the Rant. I learned a lot from them early, learned a lot of the Rant and the SEC ropes/tropes. But ever since we played them they had a massive hate boner for us that makes them impossible to talk with. I think it is because Kenny Trill accidently killed their program. So NA for now, avoid for non-trolling purposes. To troll mention Trill.

Tenn (4)- start with a TTR and then keep at it. Eventually you wear them down, they aren’t like an Arky. I have gotten them to tell me everything after a while, the nut can be cracked. But you can avoid the defenses completely if you talk about old topics. A thread like “ In the 1990’s, did the SEC…” is a 1 as their guard drops.

Texas A&M (Infinity)- OU to the SEC and we done for

Vanderbilt (1++)- The best fanbase for a conversation on the Rant period. Extremely high IQ mixed with humility and grace. Put up the strongest LFF you can and it actually improves the quality of the response unlike most fanbases here. Just leave the switch on go and never troll them. Only issue is finding one, as there aren’t many. But like a pot of gold they are fun to find and talk with. Best Rant fanbase.
