UAA released a video with some renderings of the planned football practice building today. First release since the architect was formally chosen, still waiting on full renderings.

The fact UF just got an indoor practice field, is just now planning a football ops building, and still doesnt have a true grandstand for their baseball field is so strange to me.
Best athletic program by far in the SEC and they seem to put into it so little.
Gator fans, what is the reason for this? Is it due to the major cities in Florida being so far away from Gainesville that nobody cares?

Football operations were just built into the stadium. I don't think that is all that uncommon, but for what we need there is no more room to build there. Those facilities are being given to the smaller sports.

My main point was UF has been very behind in the arms race, which goes against common thinking because they are the best overall athletic program.

Will it be built to be able to withstand 10-15 mph winds/a little rain and still remain open?

There is really a lot of different factors from the Board of Trustees instituting a cap of $100 million for athletic debt to the conservative nature of Machen and Foley. Things have changed in the last couple of years and appears to be moving in a different direction under the leadership of President Fuchs and Stricklin.
As for baseball, not sure anyone really has the answer. It just doesn't have the same level of interest at UF. The planned renovations though will certainly make it a very nice stadium.

Will this be the new facility where visiting HS QBs are forced to work out with kids against their will in street clothes?

Yeah, but what will this mean for the Gamecocks' tourny chances this season?

Well, being an Aggy, I consider you an expert so there will need to be some changes.

That's not the case anymore, new leadership is open to taking on additional debt.

You can't do shite with 100M in bonds. FSU used academic money to renovate their stadium and it was against the law at the time. They got around it by building classrooms around the stadium attached to it. So, the tax payers of Florida paid for their stadium renovations. I was a tax payer in Florida at the time.
Florida should have done the same thing, but at the time, Foley said it was unethical and that Florida would do it the right way.
AS a result, Florida facilities fell behind.
Funny thing is, FSU stadium is still a pile of crap disguised by some brick classrooms around it.
Now, go to Tuscaloosa, and wow, they have put a lot more money into their facilities than anyone other than ATM in the SEC.
