The 1997 Iron Bowl.

We're up 17-15 with 51 seconds to play. It's 3rd & 10 on our own 35-yard line. We call a FB screen to Ed Scissum who promptly fumbles the football. Auburn recovers and kicks the game winning field goal.

Thanks for the migraine

When Reggie Ball and Chan Gailey lost track of downs and threw the ball out of bounds on 4th down against Uga to end the game.

Favorite dumb plays someone else has run:
- Aaron Murray complete pass short of end zone against Alabama in sec championship
- Richt calling timeout to ice Tech kicker when play clock was about to expire and no one was set.
- Richt squib kick in same game

More Nuss magic: the play calling in the 2014 Sugar Bowl. OU is slicing and dicing the Bama defense. Bama needs to keep up in a track meet. What's Nuss's answer? Try and match them throw for throw. AJ throws 30 passes while getting sacked six times. What should Nuss have done? Some guy named Derrick Henry only had 9 touches in the game. What does he do with them? Average 12.5 yards on 8 carries for 100 yards and a TD. His only reception? 61 yards and a TD. The man averaged 17.9 yards per touch and a TD on 22% of his touches. Hell naw, don't give HIM the ball! 9 fricking touches.... he could have run for 500 yards that night. OU didn't want none of him.

Bama's is almost certainly the Scissum play. Given the score, the time remaining, the field position, and the complexion of the game (low scoring defensive type), throwing the ball sideways to the fullback is going to accomplish absolutely nothing good. Only horrible things can happen. You either just run it up the middle and be content to punt and if you dare throw it you throw it down the field and try to get the 1st down and win the game.

Of course this sort of common sense, simple analysis probably never once crossed the minds of Dubose or any other member of his inept staff.

Saban let Kiffin do this same shite for three seasons.

Mason scoring too early in the BCSNC. Everybody, including Gus, knew our defense was shot and couldn't stop FSU with that much time on the clock

#2 and #3 were dumb, for sure. But #1 was a tipped pass; can't exactly call it dumb when an All-American makes an All-American play.

Merlins 1st year - he runs the ol' QB jump pass from the 1 against LSU, with a 5' QB who couldn't get the ball over the safety's head. Same QB then keeps on a 4th down option, instead of pitching to 230lb Boobie Dixon. But yeah, you win with Sly

Dixon was punishing LSU that day and he called a fricking keeper to the smallest guy on the field.

Any play called by Mike Shula in the red zone, regardless of its success.

The big difference is that Alabama's offense under Kiffin was more dynamic and explosive than at any other time in our program's history. Yeah...he made some boneheaded calls that made you scratch your head, but at the end of the day the objective of the offense is to score more points than the opposing team. Kiffin accomplished that in all but three games in his tenure at Alabama.

This is without a doubt the easiest answer. The saddest part is we ran it multiple times.

I don't want to touch on a sore subject, but who the hell brought the twirly bird to the offensive package last season? Herb Hand, Kodi Burns, JF3?
Where did it originate, and what made Gus think it would be productive a this level?

Gus'll learn one way or the other, this HS stuff just won't cut it at this level. I'm eager to see if he'll let Lindsey take full control, or if his stubbornness and lack of trust in his coaches/players will still be an issue for another season.

To be fair, I'm not sure the coaches called this one. Supposedly, Stephen Rivers misread his play sheet. Anyway, here's what we got:
