They had run that earlier in the year. Mahoney installed it to basically point out a false start by the defense. However, after that play in the Swamp, they stopped running it.

2. The pass play Nuss called vs Texas A&M near the goal that got picked off to end the game.

Still mad about that. Eddie Lacy and the best OL we've ever had, yet Nuss gets pass happy. That whole game was an abortion of playcalling.

Nuss was an idiot. His play calling was always so predictable. Run on first down, short yardage passes on 2nd and 3rd.

Pretty much every play in last year's loss to Clemson. Whirley-bird and playing JJ although we named Sean White the starter. By some miracle we drove the ball inside Clemson's 15 on six drives. Direct snap to Jeremy Johnson on 4th and inches with our 250 lb Maneater of a RB standing on the sidelines was a tough pill to swallow when JJ lost 3 yards.

I'd go with last year against Vandy. 4th and 1 with the game on the line and Chaney lines up Chubb at FB with Isaiah McKenzie at RB in the I formation. Vandy calls a timeout and UGA comes back out in the exact same formation. Toss sweep to a 5'7 165 lb (soaking wet) WR stopped for no gain and UGA loses to Vandy on homecoming.

2010 vs Colorado

Our worst season under Richt (finished 6-7), playing an early season road game against an awful CU team.

Give up a double digit lead in the second half, but freshman Aaron Murray puts together what looks like the game winning drive.

With seconds left, and Georgia well in field goal range, it looks like the team tries to run a motherfricking FLEA FLICKER. Caleb King turns around and lobs the ball as he's hit.

Colorado recovers and wins.

LSU @ Ole Miss (2000)

Tigers score with just over 4 minutes to go in the game, take an 11 point lead. Instead of kicking the extra point to go up 12, Saban goes for 2 and Booty is tackled before crossing the goal line. Luckily we were playing Ole Miss

???....????....????....????

Come on...you can think of 100 dumber calls than that i your sleep

For LSU I think it was probably in 1987 against Ohio State.

In the final minute, tied 13-13, we had 1st and goal inside the OSU 10 yard line. All we had to do was run some clock with a couple of running plays and then kick the winning FG. Instead, we had Hodson throw to the end zone. OSU intercepted and returned it to about midfield. We ended up having to block a long FG attempt on the final play to preserve the tie.

While already pretty stupid just on the face of it, the true depth of the stupidity of this play call wasn't revealed until head coach Mike Archer's explanation in the postgame press conference. Asked why he threw the ball instead of running clock and kicking the FG, he said it was because he would NEVER play for a tie. Yep, dumbass didn't realize the game was already tied and for some reason thought we needed a touchdown to win, and he still hadn't figured it out even by the time of the postgame press conference.

To top it all off, even his righteous proclamation that he would NEVER play for a tie turned out to be bullshite two years later when he called for a tying FG in the final minute vs. Florida. In a moment of pure justice, after we tied the game with the FG, UF drove into range and kicked the winning FG as time expired, aided by a controversial decision by the officials to put one second back on the clock after UF's receiver went out of bounds just in FG range as time appeared to expire.

One of his many other great decisions was to de-emphasize in-state recruiting, announcing to a gathering of Louisiana high school coaches that "we can't win with Louisiana talent".

LSU fans always cite Curley Hallman as an example of the worst coach ever, but even he wasn't as bad as Mike Archer.

In the long history of college football the single most idiotic call was made by a clown coach famous for his stupidity. The year was 2001. The opponent was Auburn. The school was Georgia. The moron was Mark Richt.

Super Moron in action

You could close the thread here. No one will top Mark Richt, the dumbest coach who ever lived.

I'll go with the dumbest play calling I've personally seen.

2012 Bama vs Aggy. 1st and goal, and Eddie Lacy had rammed or down field easily. What does Nuss do? Called 3 of 4 passes, and we lose the game. I've never been so mad walking out of a stadium.

2012 or 2014 LSU/Bama football game. 4th & 1.5 yards. Les lines up Spencer Ware with split backs to run a QB dive. 100,000 there and millions watching at home knew exactly what was coming against the best DLine in the country. Just kick the damn field goal.

2008 State @ Ga Tech.

Anthony Dixon had just had a 70+ yard run to put State on the GT 3 Yard line.

1st Down- Dixon up the middle for 1

2nd Down- Dixon up the middle for 1 (Offsides Penalty on GT)

Instead of taking the penalty for 2nd down from the 1.5 yard line, Croom elects to decline for 3rd and 1 from the 1.

3rd Down - Dixon up the middle stuffed for no gain.

4th Down- GT Blocks Field Goal. We were already down 21-0.

Only game I have ever left in the 1st Quarter.

We scrapped our entire defense with a week to prepare in the 2013 SEC title game.

The results were...uh, less than ideal.

Agreed. Mike Archer was FAR worse. In addition to snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory on a number of occasions, he couldn't recruit worth a flip making it impossible for Hallman to have any success. Hallman at least brought in a lot of talent
