I will take pity and answer the question, it is a nickname he got saddled with back in the Big 10 and its followed him down here. Hell even us Arky fans tend to call him Bert.

Because some fans think it rustles jimmies. Kind of like when fans will refer to Arkansas as Ar-kansas or Missouri as Misery or they call A&M fans pillow-biting phaggots or they call LSU fans illiterate coon-arse SOB's.
