Craig is Williams' biggest (virtually, only) supporter. Their relationship is such that Craig was not bothered by the words and it wasn't a "slap" of the hand meant to start anything, rather just move the hand and end the convo.
Duke has had multiple - almost continuous - behavioral issues since he's been at AU. This was simply the next in line and it along with a stupid fight over a dice game made Gus say enough is enough. I applaud him for that. Better to control the team now than let the team run crazy like Chiz and Trooper did.

Loses 4 out of the last 5 games - getting crushed by their top rivals. Arguably the top player not practicing.

Any of us would be worried if one of our best players was in this position. I believe, and I think most Auburn fans know, that in the long run, they're better off without a cancer in the team. Hats off to Malzahn, Muschamp and the whole staff if they hold their ground.

Gus sold his soul long ago. He has zero intentions of Williams missing games, especially any game with any importance.

in conversation about Duke getting into yet ANOTHER fight on campus (at least his 3rd) Craig was making a point and used his hand in Duke's face as emphasis as in "you need to take a long look at yourself and decide how you want your story to end" and Duke shoved the hand away and cursed Craig.
His repeated discipline issues and disrespect hit the tipping point. Gus was ready to boot him and Craig - his only supporter on staff at this point, despite any public claims otherwise - asked Gus to let it settle and see if Duke will get it right.
He will likely be back on team at some point, but I would be stunned if he finishes the season.
Now, continue with your sarcasm, but that's what's up.
