I don't know. I think you might be selling his tackling ability a little short. Granted it's been three years since I've seen him play at UA but I remember him being able to hit hard when he did make good contact. He wasn't that great of a corner but like Juice said I'd take him back this year playing at his 2011 level.

By almost every conceivable measure. Just pointing out that Vinnie better represents the Bama/Saban defensive identity and attitude IMO.
Dre is more Deon (play style and attitude, not talent). Which isn't a bad thing. But it's not "built by bama."

I agree, I think we need one of those "Deon" guys as you put it on every team though. He was a big part of the confidence that 2012 defense played with.
ETA: I'm not willing to label him a bust until I see what happens next year.

Who is the guy in the foreground dancing instead of helping on the tackle?

I think you mean 2011. He was drafted in 2012.
And I would argue that defense's identity came from Upshaw, Hightower, and Barron. Those were the real bad motherf&*%ers.
Edit: if Eddie Jackson can get his crap together, I think he could become the prototype of what a "perfect" Bama DB should look like.

ya, 2011 of course.
I was talking about the confidence, that D stepped on the field and knew that nobody was going to get the best of them. Dre was a big part of that. The guys you mentioned, brought out the strength up front. But when Dre got burned on that first play against UF (if my memory is correct) and then came right back out there and we shut them down. I like seeing that in a corner.

Maybe. He didn't strike me as a leader, tho, but I wasn't in the locker room or on the sideline.
He wasn't a particularly good tackler, I don't know what his INT totals were (don't remember many).
I'm comparing him to guys like George Teague and Antonio Langham.
Hell even guys who weren't "up to spec/eye test" like Javy Arenas. Go through your memory and tell me you don't remember more Javy highlights--and it'm not talking about punt/kickoff returns.
He started for a reason. He didn't suck. But I think he gets elevated to an undeserved level--most of that coming from his 5 star pedigree and he really, really "looked the part." In a way that Julio Jones "looked the part." But I remember so many more "bad motherfricker" moments from Julio.
Again, different positions. And just IMO.

Oh I don't think he is a Julio type freak talent.

It's not just that. Julio didn't go out of bounds voluntarily. If Dre played the position, I could see him doing it.
I just cracked it . . Dre and DJ Hall . . separated at birth?

Unlike you I was at that game and that particular picture is photo shopped as it was not 21-0 with 11:57 left in the 4th quarter. I was also at the 9-6 game and also at every LSU-Alabama game for the past 30 years. Let me know when you attend your first Alabama game that is not a spring game. It is ok already heard all the excuses, tickets too high, live out of Alabama, just got married, mom does not let me go to the games, etc

So today you've decided to bring out the sleeping with your lady jokes, jokes about homosexuality, and stereotypes about sidewalk fans (which doesn't apply to me btw)
You're bringing the heat today, aren't you?

Nah just bored on the flight from LAX. I impress you obviously as you have researched for my posts today....lol.

For the record, I don't consider Dre a bust. The young man has been in the NFL for 2-3 years. How can anyone who ever makes it to a NFL team be considered a bust?
