Ok, that's crazy
That ain't of this earth

Great stats.
I miss me some Honey Badger. There will only ever be one Honey Badger.

Kid looks legit. I take it as a compliment for TM7 more than anything. There will be no one like him to play college football again. He pretty much defined and set the bar for his particular style of play

That video was great.

Alright, I'm curious.
He just playing in the nickel package, or is he an every down corner?
Any special teams play?
The thing that always made Mathieu stand out was his presence of mind and awareness of every detail on the field around him. You saw a little of that with Chad Jones and ODBJ as well. There's something about multi-sport athletes that gives them a better sense of awareness than their single-sport counterparts.

Mostly nickel. He's pretty incredible at stripping the ball. Made a badass strip and recovery against MSU that swung momentum back. We send him at the QB on third down off the edge quite a bit as well
I can't recall seeing him on kick coverages but it wouldn't surprise me. He would be great at it I feel like

I think he's the nickel guy. Ron Brooks, Dwayne Thomas, Tyrann, etc. that guy in the scheme. Coming off the edge

Good player, idk about the Mathieu comparisons though.

Not the all around talent Mathieu was, especially with how he returned kicks, but he is playing in the perfect role. Certainly has great ball instincts

Yeah, 3 ff is a pretty crazy stat

Mathieu is the best defensive player I've ever seen in college.
It wasn't just his absurd highlight reel of sacks, interceptions, forced fumbles, and punt returns.
It was also his constant presence of pass break ups, hard hits, pursuit and participation of EVERY play on defense, and his uncanny ability to form tackle offensive players twice his size dead in their tracks every time.
And he would do all of this at the biggest moments in games when we desperately needed it. He was the heart and soul of that 2011 squad.
He's the best LSU player in my lifetime and that includes Leonard Fournette.

Bold comparison to make. I guess we shall see. Mathieu was one of those guys who seemed like he could play any skill position he wanted to.

2 sacks and a blocked kick in 5 games?
