All smack talk aside.... I live in Fayetteville and go to Mo. several times a year. As soon as you cross the state line there is a change in the cultural vibe. It for the most part feels mid-western with with a rural flavor but does not feel southern to me at all. The accent changes, dress style changes..... It's just weird.

Missouri has good folk.... But I don't consider them "Southern"

Back to smack now.... carry on.

I've always said "coke".

Admittedly, when my family moved to central Missouri from STL, that would usually be followed by, "we only have Pepsi". As if I literally meant a Coke.

I don't drink any or that shite now though, so, IDGAF.

I agree 100%. Southern Missouri seems southern to people from the northern half of the state. It's really not.

My family migrated from Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi. Plus we lived in Georgia when I was younger, so growing up, visiting those states, I knew the difference.

Its pretty easy for natives of St Louis to sniff out your BS when you say shite like this Dale.

No one from St Louis originally uses the word "pop".

I would imagine it's 10% water and 90% whitetail deer piss, but I could be wrong...

You get that a lot in Oklahoma.

You also get a couple of sweet n low packets and a spoon on the side when you order sweet tea just like in Missouri.

Has STL started showing SEC games in the sports bars on Saturdays? When I was up there a few years ago all they would show was B1G games, Mizzou's game, and the Cards if they were in the playoffs and playing that day.

Whenever I eat at a restaurant, I ask for a Pepsi.

The waitress will say, "What kind of Pepsi?"

I'll say, "Mountain Dew, please."

Is that southern?

This, Missouri has a completely different feel.

Saying Missouri is in the south is like saying Texas is part of Dixie.

Soooo, northerners consider Missouri southern and southerners consider Missouri northern?

WTF? Do we have an identity in this great land called America?

I say soda as a general term for soft drinks.

I use brand names when ordering.

For those who say they want a coke, what do you expect to get when ordering?
