Bama wins in every scenario so it probably doesn't matter.

If the OOD games shouldn't count as much, why bother playing them?

No sport I can think of counts some wins more than others, unless its OOC. Divisional games already count more b/c of the tie breakers, anyway.

Sounds like people want the SEC East and West to be two different conferences.

I think things are complicated enough in the division without factoring in SOS for all teams. TN with the right coach will be a great program and inevitably Alabam and LSU will not always enjoy the success they are currently. Florida was bad the last few years and no one expected them to be this good. GA will not be half the team they are this yr just due to graduation and draft. Sometimes things work in your favor and other times not. Short of there being 14 conf games and we all play each other it will never be fair however it is the same in the NfL. Some teams have easier divisions than others. No one complains. Ecause there is a playoff to weed those teams out which is what cfb is becoming and it will only get bigger. You know they are going to go to eight teams ASAP. My biggest question is with should we even do an seccg if we can get more teams in the top four because not every conf has a championship game and some yrs those games don't matter anyway. All that game is is just more revenue. Had we not played GA this yr we would still have gone just because Oregon didn't play in its conf hand. Either did Florid; however had all teams played twelve games we would have had Bama, Florida and GA all deserving playoff teams.

That sounds as good as any other way of doing it but once implemented the losing fans will bitch and moan about it anyway.

They'll nitpick it to death. My head hurts!!!!

Why have divisions? Take top two teams, play them in CG.

This is what I want. They got rid of divisions in SEC basketball for the tourney. Drop them all together. We know by now where the line is drawn separating East and West.

Most sports have balanced schedules. So the inverse would be very few sports with unbalanced schedules value all wins the same.

Someone is always going to have a gripe. Was it "fair" when Alabama faced 6 opponents coming off a bye week? By far more than any other school.

You say this all the time, yet Alabama threw a fit and, lo and behold, such an arrangement is now verboten.

So in short:
1.) Using one example of unfairness to justify institutionalizing unfairness is neither a good idea nor intellectually honest

2.) There is precedent for real and permanent change when the conference sees injustice.

It is a sound way of doing things, until you see how our NC is determined.

I went back to 2003, and I don't think this would have changed any SECW participant. 2006 would have been muddled, but would have been a tie between Ark(7-1), AU (6-2), and LSU (6-2). Arkansas would have still gone by using the inter-divisional games as a secondary tie-breaker.

The sec needs to do like the nfl, hard schedule after winning a championship.

The blue jays play the yankees, red sox, and rays 18 times per year.

The Angles play the mariners and A's

Who has the better chance at getting a wild card berth?

Same goes with the NFL. Name a sport where schedules are fair and balanced across the board

Not only that but there are more games in the NFL and very little variance between divisional schedules.

You have two games against each of your divisional opponents. That is six games. You play two other divisions. That gets you to 14. Then you have the two games that the NFL uses to create TV matchups or whatever. Even though the process is not entirely balanced, it is for all practical purposes compared to what college football teams do.

Perhaps you haven't noticed that MLB is attempting to balance its schedule. That is why the AL is welcoming the Disastros.

You are making the case for it. Even old time MLB sees how big a problem it is.

2 divisions 8 teams each. Play the 7 teams in your division. Winner of each division play in SECCG.

5 OOC games can include games vs east opponents that do not count toward conference standings.

I'll answer that when you explain to me why we play OOC games at all.

My original post is too long and a quick question. Considering the new playoff format should we even have a conf cg anymore. Bama was two with the only teams sitting behind them not in the sec were not goin to conf cg. Had this been next yr with the sec filling out the top 3 of four spots we would have had Bama, Fla and GA all in the playoff and all deserving.
