We already have a 14 week season. Which is why Big 12 teams already have two byes during a season.

I think the season should start two weeks earlier (mid AUG) and have a two week period from the end of the season until the Conference Championship Games (For School Finals). Teams are essentially practicing year round anyway and the one month layoff at the end of the season takes a lot of wind out of College Football.
