No troll, just looking for some perspective from people in the know. In recent years I recall hearing from the OM fans, " we are happy to lose early in SEC tourney so the team can get needed rest as the real post season starts when the regionals begin"!?

Not the logic I was taught growing up but, I did not grow up pickin cotton either.

Going 0-1 is not the way to go. You need to get in 3-4 games to get your pitchers work, but you don't play it as a must win, meaning don't stretch out your starters too much or bring back a closer on short rest because even though it may be an elimination game, it doesn't mean all that much. Baseball is different than basketball. You can play a bunch of games in a week then get 4-5 days off and everyone will be fine. You don't want to do that to your pitching at catcher in baseball. It could very easily hurt your team in regionals and beyond.

They need to go back to 10 teams or start playing in pods like the ACC does. Single elimination in baseball is ridiculous.

Depends on the situation. They have a regional host guaranteed, I would think. Possible to play into national seed talk with a deep run (championship game). I don't know what their strategy will be.

They will beat the eventual champion in the tourney, flame out and then call themselves baseball elite.

It's different from year to year. Losing to a top 40 RPI team on day one wouldn't hurt us other than not getting some arms work. A few of ours need the rest anyway. Making a deep run could help in the national seed race but that's the only outcome that would. I like to get into the third day just to throw some arms out there that you aren't used to seeing against good teams and see how they respond. Our coach goes into it trying to win the game in front of him and that's all that matters.

That's like prefacing an offensive statement with "this may come across as offensive but..."
