Lock will be fun to watch, and he changes how I feel about this team from here on out.

However, no, we're a year away. 2012 is rearing its ugly head this year.

We'll make some noise now, but not enough to compete for the east.

I said the same thing last year though...

Not this season, but this extra experience for Lock will make us even better than we were already going to be in 2016 (well, except for having to replace our entire O-line)

Bullard, McCalister, and Ivie combined are what make that Florida line better. Harris was hard to keep out of the backfield against y'all but we flat out couldn't get enough bodies to block to keep Florida's line off of Towles. It's a good majority of the reason he had such a dismal performance against Florida. All three of those guys are Top 10 in sacks in the SEC right now.

And when I looked earlier I believe the only two defensive categories they aren't statistically better is tackles and INT (tied). And that's against a stronger schedule.

I think it's difficult to compare them at the moment. Kentucky came out with a completely different game plan against Mizzou then it did against Florida. First off, that Freshmen Tackle didn't start, you know the one that got eaten alive vs Florida. Secondly, you had 1-2 RBs in the backfield helping block on almost every play. Finally, Towles was throwing quick passes the entire game, it's not like he had tons of time back there against Mizzou.

I think Kentucky had a really good game plan against Mizzou and they scored just enough points to win. Against Florida your flaws were exposed and you corrected them, your team is well coached.

Probably shouldn't crown UGA yet.

If they lose this weekend they'll probably have to sweep @TN and UF to win the division.

They certainly will be favored in both but both teams have enough talent to beat them if they play their best.

Now if they beat Bama this weekend then I think you are right in assuming they'll win the division.

QB is the least of our concerns on offense. Thus far we have struggled to block anyone, catch passes or run the ball. Our defense is pretty solid which gives us a chance to compete in most of our remaining games.

My guess is that we will split our final 8 games with a 4-4 record.

You obvious are not a fan of Mizzou or haven't watched a game this year.

Pinkel said he was more concerned about those surrounding Drew Lock than Lock.

Yes, the OL is of far more concern than either Mauk or Lock.

All the starters this week started at times last year. They were running over people in November. Now they can't push over a cardboard cutout.

The dawg fan is a dick only because he successfully trolls the shite out of you all. He just keeps baiting the hook and you all keep mindlessly biting...yet he's the dick.

That's rich.

Carry on.

Who is easier to block for, the guy you know where he will be(in the pocket), or the guy you don't know where he will be(probably running backwards).

This offense lacks consistency, Mauk is bad at sustaining drives, his bread and butter has always been the big play, not the sustained drive.

Lock will lead DRIVES. You know those 8-12 play things where you score at the end. Something we haven't really seen at Mizzou in 2 years.

anything can happen but it is his first start against an SEC opponent. I think a lot of Mizzou fans are putting a lot of pressure on Lock to be successful.

That is very accurate. It is very reminiscent of Vols fans a couple years ago with Dobbs.

Our media writers have been pumping the Lock sunshine from Day 1, which has ramped up expectations.

I think he is going to be great...but he isn't going to be peyton manning out of the gate. He is fairly different from Mauk in style though. More traditional pocket passer. Less of a threat to run...but better at short and intermediate throws.

I'll really be watching for his pocket awareness and ball control. We knew maty is/was a gunslinger who was going to have some interceptions to go along with amazing plays. I imagine we will see less long balls and more consistent short balls. It will be up to the receivers to make something happen....which hasn't happened yet.

To be honest, I just want to see Lock run the offense as designed. I have no expectations for this game other than I want to see offensive improvement...and I know we will.

killz nailed it, most of the fans just want to see Mizzou's offense return to what we are used to seeing under Pinkel. Pass first, run second. Last 2 years we have had to run first and pass second because of Mauk's lack of accuracy.

Most excited I've been for a Mizzou game this season.

Here's how Mizzou other recent QBs have done in their first starts. None of them got a start their freshman season.

Chase Daniel - I'm going to include his second game since his first was against Murray State.
Murray State: 23-32, 320 yards, 5 TDs, and 0 INTs
Ole Miss (2nd start): 24-40, 243 yards, 1 passing TD, 0 INT, 13 carries for 89 yards, and 1 rushing TD

Blaine Gabbert:
Illinois: 25-33, 319 yards, 3 passing TD, 0 INT, 10 carries for 39 yards, and 1 rushing TD

James Franklin:
Miami (OH): 17-26, 129 yards, 1 passing TD, 1 INT, 14 carries for 72 yards, and 1 rushing TD

Maty Mauk:
Florida: 18-36 295 yards, 1 passing TD, 1 INT, 6 carries for 15 yards, and 1 rushing TD
