I think he gets it but again, more games. Not a shot at LF. The guy is a monster with the ball. He'll just have a game or two extra.

Not a shot you, but this deep in the thread, you should know that it will be the SAME number of games and FEWER carries.

Do you realize that LF7 may break the record and beat HW's ypc by 2.0 yards?

He will go over 200 this weekend. Wait, Henry goes for well over 200+ against the A&M yet Fournette only goes for 155

Pretty good predictions, but I think he gets more against Aggy. He could name his number this weekend, but I think he gets some much needed rest.

Was part of my reasoning for yardage I listed.

He definitely could get more but I don't think he will need to be used that much and the other guys will get more carries to help keep LF fresh.

Make no mistake- Les is going to ride LF in November. I expect 30-35 touches against Bama. 20-25 against Arky, 25-30 against Ole Miss and 30-35 against A&M.

But again, less carries

If Fournette continues as he's been doing he will without a doubt have put up the best rushing year in SEC history by most any measure. He should, after that, be in the conversation for best of all time.

Fournette could probably sit the rest of the year besides A&M and still get the record

In defense of Hershel (and Bo), those guys played in an era where both sides stacked the line of scrimmage and ran the ball every play. Every single person in the stadium knew what was coming on every down. Run, run, run. Run, run, pass. Run, run, run, punt. The only mystery was right or left and you could even predict THAT 75% of the time based on the formation.

Go back and watch that UGA-ND Sugar Bowl. ND's defensive schemes are comical. It's like playing the Punt Block formation on playstation Madden.

I think UGA completed something like 200 total passes during the entire three years that HW played there. And probably 50 of those were simply extended handoffs to Hershel himself.

You just can't do that in today's game. Even a Les Miles team that gives LF 25 carries a game is going to mix in enough offensive creativity to keep defenses honest.

Younger people have trouble grasping how completely different college football was back in the day. It's practically a new sport now

excellent post.

I don't care if somebody (not just LF, some nameless yet to be known player 20 years from now as well) breaks every HW record there is, there simply will never be another like in the mold of herschel and bo. Period. Lot of it is like you mentioned..you can compare stats all day but it was simply a different era. Just like the 80s were a different style of ball than the mid-50s. 35 years is a long time.

Fact is that Herschel and Bo were as big as the other teams defensive ends, yet were also the fastest people on the football field. We simply won't ever see that again.

He needs 690 yards in the next 5 games, to break it in 11 games. I think he gets that easily, he doesn't need the championship or bowl games to get it.

Finally someone else thinks LSU is balanced and LF isn't the whole team.

I think he does. Dude is a beast, and has a great OL blocking for him. Probably the one of the best in LSU's history.

No asterisk in the record books. Nice try, though.
