This may be hard to believe but NOLA has changed a lot since the 1700s and Cajuns have moved around quite a bit since then.

That is my point. Just because their were a lot of cajuns here 200 years ago doesn't make New Orleans cajun today. Hell their were cajuns in the Mobile area 200 years ago and I would get attacked by some idiot if I said Mobile was a cajun culture today.

I couldn't care less really. Kind of like Ole Miss liking the Saints. I thought most Aubies were Falcon fans, which is fine, I hate both teams. As for Bama fans liking the Saints. Doesn't affect my life any. And MSU just doesn't matter at all.

I can't help but remember that my friends would almost act offended when I would refer to them as cajun when I first moved here. I thought the whole state was majority cajun. They informed me that "cajun people" were from places like Houma.

Then I met my wife from St. Laundry and she informed me that people from Houma were not real cajuns and my in-laws informed me that New Orleans was not real Louisiana.

It all just gets so damn confusing.

They are New Orleans Saints fans btw

this sounds like a family reunion of mine where half my family grew up in South LA and the rest from the Shreveport area.

Louisianans are out of their mind.

fwiw they also all love the Saints, even though my family in Acadia and Vermillion parishes also claim New Orleans isn't actually LA

I bet our families know each other

almost forgot to mention my cajun family HATES LSU and my Shreveport family LOVE LSU.

Kinda weird when you consider the geography of it all

but the cajuns are obvoulsly all Laffy fans

Do you think Birmingham could support a NFL team? eta: serious question

Birmingham, no. Hoover (or one of the surrounding cities) Yes. People forget there is ~1.2 million people in the Metro (i.e. pro sport fans), which is the size of New Orleans.

I don't mind it.

But I REFUSE to cheer for any play made by an ex Alabama player on the Saints roster.

I won't go that far, but Ingram and Harper haven't exactly given a ton of times to cheer. Though Ingram seemed to play the best I can remember in the last month.

So its ok for an LSU fan to be a fan of any NFL team(49ers for you) but not ok for other college fans to be a Saint's fan?

The Acadians were the French Canadian farmers in Nova Scotia. They were a particular isolationist group that was ousted from their land.

All Acadians were French Canadian, not all French Canadians were Acadian.

And New Orleans was founded by the Catholic French and later ruled by the Catholic Spanish. The Catholic roots of the city don't come from the Acadians, as they mostly settled in the previously uninhabited prairie and bayou areas.

Why would it be doubtful? Les owns Auburn and Chief owns the HUNH.

I know you think LSU will never lose to AU for some strange reason but LSU is not going to win next year at Jordan Hare with us basically returning all of the offense aside from Tre. No way Gus loses this one, we have it circled.
