Ironically, if Bama had been halfway decent (7-9 wins) in 2004, it might have given Auburn a bump in the final BCS poll. Enough to put them over Oklahoma.
If anyone that Auburn beat was half-way decent, it would have given them a bump.
But the schedule was built off of a bunch of powder-puffs.

Georgia, LSU, and Tennessee (twice)?

Auburn would've whipped anyone's arse that year in the SEC.

You were the one making that idiotic statement. You do the leg work. Try google.
No. Your fact. Your legwork.
UGA was 10-2. But UGA's biggest win was over LSU (the same LSU that beat a 7-5 Oregon State at home in overtime).
Tennessee was 10-3. But they lost to a 6-6 Notre Dame.
Who was the signature win in the regular season?
Who was this great triumph for the 04 Auburn Tigers?

An undefeated season. Have you seen one of those recently?

As I said... Auburn's OOC schedule in 2004 was UL Monroe, Citadel, and La Tech.
How did they do the previous year when they faced decent OOC competition? They lost at home to USC and on the road at GT in 2003. They lost at home to GT in 2004.
What is one supposed to think about the 2004 Auburn Tigers when their history showed that the team crapped the bed against good competition, but could run roughshod over the sisters of the poor?
2004's accomplishments were built on fabrications. Nothing more (it's why they justifiably got disrespected by the Nation)

Way to go, Cincinnatti! Go Bearcats.

At the end of the season, the SEC had 3 teams in the Top 15: Auburn, Georgia, and Tennessee. And LSU was #16.
The Big 12 had only 2 teams in the Top 15: Oklahoma and Texas.
I'm not sure it's clear-cut. But I think there's an argument to be made that the SEC was better than the Big 12 overall in 2004.

I'd be bitter too if I were a UGA fan.
It's been a rough 30 years.

The SEC East Champ lost to a 6-6 Notre Dame.
Who was the biggest other team from the West? The same team that beat Oregon State at home in overtime by 1 point? A 7-5 Oregon State team at that.

It's your season. I wasn't a part of it.
Defend it or STFU

How does Auburn's 2004 OOC compare to Oklahoma's 2004 OOC.
I contend that Auburn's in-conference competition outweighed OU's in-conference competition. Does OU's OOC make up enough of a difference to put OU over the top for total SOS?

Great post.
Who did LSU beat?
Who did Tennessee beat?
Who did UGA beat?
Dig deeper. It's not hard.
I was a part of the "i'm madder than hell, and i'm not going to take it anymore" crowd in 2004. But it doesn't take a genius to realize that the SEC sucked donkey balls in 2004.

Undefeated. Consider it defended. I'm sure UGA has played a top-notch schedule every year since the 80s and surely they have managed an undefeated season here or there?
Auburn beat every team on the schedule (3 times in 20 years), including a Citadel team that was a last minute replacement.

Someone go ahead and post a gif of "The Hit", featuring Junior Rosegreen and Reggie Brown.

Auburn was supposed to play Bowling Green. Bowling Green asked out....because ironiclly they were playing OK also and didn't want to play both of us. That is why we had to replce them wiht a 1-AA team at the last minute. We could have forced them to play, we didn't. If you just look at the OOC, you are correct.

You were given facts. Now you are just making excuses.
