Why the hell would you want a pig hide anyway?

Glad to see another live mascot. Colorado has that big, ol' buffalo that's prolly the biggest mascot in college football. Then LSU's Mike the Tiger could prolly eat that buffalo in one sitting at dinner time. (Mike is more'n likely the baddest live mascot in all of college athletics, so props to all you LSU folks.)

UK has had a couple live mascots over the years. The last one was named "Blue" but didn't reside on campus. UK's Live Wildcat Mascot

Gener'ly, it pleases me greatly to poke a finger in the eye of PETA an' other faux animal rights groups by havin' a live mascot.

Too bad Alabamastan cain't git a live pachyderm other than on like this to represent the school. . .

Of course, this one looks to be suff'rin' from a purty bad case of the mumps.

Back in 1993, the SEC basketball tournament was in Lexington. Back when they had it at campus arenas. We used to go almost every year. Went to it in Birmingham, Nashville, and then Lexington. We were staying at some hotel and dad had bought a travel package from an Arkansas fan site. Apparently the Bama tickets were sold out or something. So not only were we staying with Arkansas fans, we were also riding a bus shuttle to and from Rupp Arena with them.

One night in this big open area of the hotel, they were having a hog-calling contest, and the winner's prize was an actual Razorback hog. They had it on display in a big cage in the lobby. Y'all should have seen the crowd of Arky fans. It was crazy. Some fat woman won the thing. I'm not sure what she was going to do with it, but she was beyond excited. It was then that I knew that Hogs fans were absolutely crazy, and I felt good about being from Alabama and not Arkansas.

Yeah, we have crazy tree-poisoners and teabaggers, but winning a hog, that's just crazy.

Tusk III, along with UGA, the Georgia Bulldog mascot, and Smokey, the bluetick coonhound of the Tennessee Volunteers, are the only lineage live mascots in the SEC

Don't know how that's working out for Tusk or Smokey but I know that whole inbred lineage thing caused a lot of trouble for some recent Uga's. Didn't they have to resort to another bloodline because of the deaths of the last few?
Also, it would be pretty cool-but unrealistic-if LSU would get a female tiger and the vet school start a small scale breeding program for Bengal tigers who are considered endangered.

Tusk lives in Dardanelle (or used to), so every game is a road game for him.

Still does- unless it's changed very recently. His handler/keeper/secret service agent comes in the place I work pretty often.

Why does ev'rybody accuse me of havin' an alter-ego like Clark Kent or Peter Parker or Bruce Willis? (Wait - I think I meant Bruce Wayne.)

Jes' fer once, I wish folks would lemme comment an' be respectful to most other SEC fans an' only jes' poke a little fun at 'em once in awhile without enny feelings gittin' hurt.

Ennyway, back to the topic at hand, Arky's little Razorback piggy is indeed "adorable" as my wife says, but he also looks "scrump-diddly-umptious" as my nephew in southeast Alabamastan says.

The good news is when Tusk dies, you can have a good old fashioned BBQ.
