Lane has trended towards Malzahn style of play calling. Lane has better conceived pass plays than Malzahn though.

But to answer your question. Of course he is going to go more option read with the QBs he is getting.

Bama doing the Auburn gimmick offense. Right?

My point is the Defenses have allowed Offense play calling to dictate a lot of games. As the Defenses improve at places like A&M and AU, OCs will start to stick to the basics. The SEC West Ds the last few years have been nothing to write home about, even Saban/Smart gave up big yardage to Ole Miss and AU(630yards).

Nevermind running his stars into the ground until they're guaranteed busts in the nfl

Alabama will not run the Auburn type offense, or the Oregon type offense, etc. They do and will continue to run a pro style offense while mixing in plays from the other various offenses that other teams are running.

Yes. Especially if Bateman wins the job. Dude can move pretty well. Him not keeping the ball and running vs ole miss on zone reads is a big reason he was pulled from that game.

You hit the nail on the head, pal! He had ZERO carries for the game. It he doesn't present a run threat, he's of no value..we got better passers.

I think he wasn't keeping it was because he was scared. He was pull for that and his shitty passing

Adding the QB as a running threat is always a good idea.

It's essential with a read option play.

I hope we insert more read option to replace the pitch-to-the-WR-in-motion plays, which absolutely NEVER work.

I hope we have a guy that makes plays with his arm. If we can't feed this group of receivers then the offense will never reach its potential.

We barely did any zone read when blake sims was qb, and he was the most suited to that style of any qb we have had. The vast majority of his running was from scrambling on blown plays. It would be silly not to run a few of those pays each game with the guys we have, just to give defenses something else to think about, but it's not going to be a big part of our offense. Saban doesn't like the qb getting hit every play. Plus with our crazy receiving options i think they will be the focus of the offense this year

Bama doesn't have the players to run Auburn's offense. Auburn had last year's preseason Heisman favorite. What about Alabama??

That is the most bubble gum bulls shite in all of captivity! But it does setup the run & keep LBs guessing.
