I would much rather have tradition than not have it. It helps you get on TV, to better bowl games, discussed in the media, and recruits instantly know who you are and want to be part of it.

It doesn't produce any points in the ball game nor cause the other team to give up anymore points. That is caused by good players being coached well and executing the plan.
