Stupid arse question by saban.

If I was the reporter I would have fired back, "Do you sit around all day with your thumb up your arse or do you do your job and pay attention to your professional environment as well?"

Well of course he's looking at magazines. I saw this one on his desk when he was doing some kind of video chat with ESPN. Sports Illustrated

Doesn't SI have to request permission to come do photo shoot and interview through football office.
You can't tell me Saban didn't sign off on this.
It was a simple question that he could've just said YES or NO instead of being an arse to the reporter who is just doing his job and was probably writing a story about it to see what Saban thought about it.
Why was it a dumb question? It pertains to the program and you know Bama wanted it to run now right before Heisman votes start showing up!

Saban probably secretly hates that he's on it with the headline that it got because although he said AJ is the most underrated player, he doesn't like players buying into their own hype...Sports Illustrated curse...upcoming game at Auburn for all the SEC West marbles...

But I will say this about Saban, he squashes just about every trend, jinx, etc. It's just another challenge for him to squash (the SI curse). Or maybe the SI curse will even be too strong for him to conquer...

Hell, if you'd been the reporter, you'd have 1) shite your pants 2) ducked down under the crowd, and 3) slinked your pathetic arse out of there as quietly as possible.

He should've said, "I apologize coach, I'll go with my backup question. Pool or no pool at the new house in Texas?" and just waited for Saban's spontaneous combustion.

After seeing plenty of these where he gets pissed at certain questions, it's obvious he doesn't want to talk about stuff that's happening off the field. He really seems most interested in answering the questions related to starters, player development, and questions pertaining to actual game play. Which is understandable since that is what he's most focused on right now. It seems like the reporters that attend the press conf on a regular basis would figure this out. Or maybe they have and they just like troll'n.

You think reporters are afraid of Saban or do you think they are afraid of losing access to press conferences?

I'd go with the latter there, because I hope you don't think they are actually afraid of that little guy.

Maybe.
And I'm sure pressers become annoying as hell for all coaches.
But it would seem that when you're a multi-million dollar-paid university employee, answering questions--even the unsavory ones--is part of the job description.
But we all have bad days.

I'm sure Dan would have no problem getting down on his knee's, and tell Saban he is a little bitch to his face.

"He should've", "I would've"
There sure are a lot of tough guys, geniuses, and master debaters hanging around this thread.
I started it with the intention of bringing all the Alabama/Saban haters to the table, and it worked. Notice all the Auburn, LSU, and Georgia posters...I love you, guys!

You mean you started a thread on a message board and got responses?

Guy's an asshat. Feel sorry for the reporters that have to ask him questions for their jobs.

There is this thing on message boards where people say stuff and it's not meant to be taken literally. It's a deep concept, I know...

Saban was LSU's coach - former LSU players and LSU coaches tend to still be of interest to the fans after they're gone. Auburn's last game is against Bama for all the SEC marbles. It would make sense that those teams would have the most interest concerning something Saban said. To be fair, I also saw South Carolina, Ole Miss, Tennessee and aTm fans chiming in as well.

I don't hate Saban. I hate that he keeps winning at Bama, but he is the best at what he is paid to do. I do think he can be a hyperfocused jackhole at times and this seems like one of those times. He's the one that said AJ was the most underrated player in America. So it makes sense to ask a question about an article that asks if McCarron is one of the best college QBs ever.
An Alabama University sharp shooter would have probably taken out the reporter faster than Saban could say "a'ight" if he tried to follow up with a reponse to Saban's great social commentary.

AJ told him what to say.

McCarron is the Saban puppet master.
