Hurts is 40% on passes 20+ yards which is good for 18th in country. So I'd say he is ok.

That includes yards after catch?

Meaning they caught the ball he threw 20+ yards. Yards after catch is not applied to this percentage.

Much rather play this type of offense. Yall are soft running the football and struggle on 3rd and short when that used to be an automatic first down for yall.

Our offense wouldn't be near as efficient without the kid.

Wrong.

He can throw 10 screen passes and complete them all behind LOS. If they go for 150 total yards then the yards per completion will be 15.

A pass is a pass is a pass. They don't break it down by where the pass was caught. Bama coaches may do it but normal stats do not.

Wasn't a normal stat. Just understand what I just said and move on. He isn't as bad as our fans or you think. If you'd like go through each game and do the math.

I'd like to see where you're getting this stat.

Just curious what the rest of you think about it. Would you rather face the old school pro style that we previously ran or are you happy that we are a zone read team now?

Obviously it has worked for you guys but the weakness of this scheme is you are one turned ankle away from turmoil especially since one of your backups left.

Looks like a pretty desperate offense that will get stuffed versus a real defense

LSU stinks of desperation, you better pray the OL shoot up before the game. The house will be coming on the reg.

I don't think he is bad. I don't think he is a great passer either. You have to understand that with a running game as strong as Bama a completion rate of 40% for passes over 20 yards isn't that good. It isn't bad but it isn't good either.

Teams have D backs that have to come up and support the run D because of the Bama running game They are much easier to get behind on play action. I know you don't want to hear it but given the athletes and overwhelming physical advantage with running game... 40% completion rate on 20+ yard isn't really very good. A guy that can throw a longer ball very well would be knocking down some unreal %. He wasn't pressured that much on deep balls vs A&M. The deep balls weren't really effective at all.

Yes. Obviously, I'm anxious for Hurts to improve his passing game, and I do scream "run it" at times with respect to play calling. But the added dimension of a dangerous running QB is huge. If/when Hurts becomes more productive passing, Tide's offense is gonna be very difficult to defend.
