VA Tech will run all over Boise State in that game
Than we won't have to hear all year about Boise being in BCS CHamp game

My beef with them is that they are given a free pass to the BCS.

I wouldn't say that. If they lose even one in-conference game, they are toast.....and I don't care how good a team is or how crappy a conference is, it is very hard to win every single game, year after year.

So if they keep winning every game they play, then it is hard to justify holding them down, particularly if they are doing all they can to schedule teams from BCS conferences (which they apparently are)........

I just don't see how that constitutes a "free ride".....

B/c they play such great teams?

BTW don't you have a homo thread on the Poli board to attend to

They need us. We don't need them

Well, given that the original post in this thread had to do with resentment over them being ranked #2 in pre-season polls, I am not sure that is really the case, any more.......

Look, as I said, I don't think their ranking is justified, myself, but I also don't think teams that refuse to schedule them have any right at all to complain about that ranking.....that's all....

A more interseting question is...

What will the top of the polls look like if Bama only beats San Jose State by 28, and Boise beats San Jose State by 45, and both are undefeated throught the end of October?

I doubt that the pollsters would flip the teams based only on common opponent results, but...?

You don't consider:

Miami (OH)
Fresno St.
Bowling Green
California-Davis
Tulsa
Hawaii
San Jose St
Louisiana Tech
Idaho
Utah St
Nevada
New Mexico St

A free ride? I sure as hell do. That was their schedule last year after their first game against Oregon, nor surprisingly at Boise. Win the first game and they're assured a BCS bowl. You're right that if they lose 1 conference game they have no hope, but the odds are greatly in their favor to win them all when you look at just how downright pathetic the teams are they play. Give all 12 SEC teams that schedule (in some magical scenario where cross country travel was negated) and I bet you at least half could've gone undefeated as well.

Yes it is. If they were playing a couple of MAC teams instead of VaTech and Oregon State, they wouldn't stand a snowballs chance in hell of getting anywhere near the NC game. If all the BCS schools would just tell Boise to screw off then they wouldn't have anything to hang their hats on at the end of the season. They need to play at least 1 top 25 caliber BCS school every year, and win, to continue to make their argument.

boise state enjoys the attention
i would gladly schedule a home and home with them at bama and at their blue field....the blue turf vs my trips to top 5 games at tiger stadium at night, the swamp, sec championship 1 v 2 games?
bama lsu fla ut aub would hardly be intimidated by that place.
if bama doesnt play for a title and fla or texas or somebody does then i hope they play boise and kill them
i would not want bama playing them because it would take away from it and not feel like a true national title

really i am indifferent towards boise and just worry about sec game 1, then gm 2, 3...etc

boise plays their super bowl week 1 and then has a bye until the BCS

i highly doubt they have sought out penn state, osu, usc, texas i mean you can beat an overranked team and get bcs points for it as if it was florida, sounds good to me

I have a BIG problem with it.

If they were in the SEC they would be a middle tier team.

Bama and Florida would kill Boise St. I honestly dont think they could beat Auburn, LSU, Arkansas, or Georgia either.
