A better job @ MSU than he ever could? I think Sparty would have been on the verge of big things ten years earlier if CNS was still there. But money talks and his arrival at LSU set in motion the wheels for SEC domination. Dantonio is doing great but is missing that one championship. Still pretty impressive considering the recruiting disadvantage he has up there.

Mark Dantonio is the most underrated coach in CFB period.

When Saban speaks you best put on your Sunday cloths because you're about to hear the truth.

The majority of talent is still in the South. He would be successful, but never coaching in the South would have limited him, imo.

Dantonio has a better record and has accomplished more than Saban did at MSU. Just plain facts. That's all he was saying. He didn't go into that hypothetical

Michigan and the rest of the BIG we're not as bad back then.

Dantonio is an elite coach, but MSU as a program has benefited from Michigan being in the wilderness.

He def does not get enough credit.

Props to Saban for complimenting him.

You should seek professional help. He left LSU long ago and your pain should have passed.

Well, while I think much of the LSU fanbase should consult psychiatric help, I don't really believe anything Saban says either.

With Dantonio and Izzo they have two of the best coaches in the country at the two main men's sports. The only way it could be topped is of Coach K or Cal came to UA.

Hell. I believe him and I think it was a classy comment for Saban to make. Unfair to compare their time there. Different time, different challenges. But no doubt Dantonio has done a tremendous job there and if Saban had stayed there is no guarantee he would have had the same measure of success.

Saban did get better as he went along so he is a lot better now than he was 15-20 years ago.

Coaches always slobber all over each other before a game. Have you ever heard a coach say that he is better coach and has a better team before a game? Muhammed Ali would have made an interesting football coach.

Saban wasn't anywhere near the coach he was back then that he is now.
