With expansion need to go the baseball route and eliminate the bottom teams and I realize Ole Miss and LSU won last night but unless they expand tourney no need to have all the teams in sec tourney.

Sure. Under the current format, it takes the entire week for things to get interesting

Crazy how the SEC is able to beg Hoover to host the baseball tournament every year.

Sixteen teams doesn't really change anything other than add two more games the first day, which only affects teams 5-9 . No reason to change it.

I’m looking forward to more than 2 games on Wednesday. Giving every player one last opportunity in a tournament is extremely important. We should not take that opportunity away from them.

Way too many nice minor league facilities not to rotate it throughout sec landscape although Hoover is easy for a lot of fans to make that trip

Do away with all the byes and do a true 16-team tourney. Problem solved. I am also good with dropping the bottom 4 and giving a 1st round bye to the top 4. 12 teams is plenty. If you're 13-16, you likely have no shot at postseason anyway without a miracle run.

I don't think they will do that. But instead they will have 8 teams play the first day instead of 4. Still do the 5-8 Seed with a bye to play winners of 9-16, and the 1-4 seeds will have the double bye still.

ETA: If you did a 16 team tournament with no byes it would still take 5 days, since the 1st Round would have to be split into 2 days with 4 games each.

Yes and then they could finish on Saturday. It makes no sense to finish your conference tournament on selection Sunday.

Sixteen baseball tournament will be fine.
Single elimination. Maximum number of games played is four spread over five days.
Could be four games in four days if you played your first game on Thursday.

4 games Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
2 games Saturday
1 game Sunday.

Wednesday….1/16 2/15 3/14 4/13
Thursday….5/12 6/11 7/10 8/9
Friday…4 winners from each day play each other
Saturday…semifinals
Sunday…finals

Every team is guaranteed 1 game.
First game winners play at least 2 games.
Second game winners play at least three games
Then only two teams play four games.

Gives the teams a chance to use some little used pitchers to get experience if they go deeper into the tournament.

Total of 15 games played so fans will get some great baseball.
