Do teams keep a record of texts between coaches and players?

I would think that would have to be the case right? So, Ole Miss would have had those records somewhere?

This may have been discussed already. If so, sorry but I haven't seen anything on it.

ETA: asking because as everyone likely knows if they had those records and didn't hand them over during the initial investigation the NCAA could and should perceive that as being deceptive. Which we all know is a huge no, no.

Some do, if the phone/plan was paid for by the school they could get records of all the texts.

I think this is what's coming up in the Ole Miss situation and the Bama situation for that DL coach who just resigned instead of termination.

I'm hearing OM withheld cell phone records and bank transactions.

Should be interesting. Hoping it doesn't evolve into LOIC.

They said their records were as complete as Hillary Clinton's.

Fulmer didn't. During our investigation he was asked by the Memphis DA to turn over all correspondence he had with the NCAA and he said it had been destroyed. Of course, the Memphis da said alrighty, thanks.

It probably depends on each school's policy and each state's public records laws. Some states consider texts official correspondence that must be maintained as a government record. Others do not.

If up to the school, it can be a two edged sword. If you have a good staff trying to play it as straight as anybody, they could save your arse. If you don't well then you are cooked.

If OM keeps texts and withheld them, they are cooked.

Fulmer knew what he was doing when he played the game, Ole Miss is out of their element.

Phone company does. But, NCAA can't get them unless Ole Miss provides them . If they refuse to provide, I suppose the NCAA could take the stance that they are hiding something. Wouldn't be the first time the NCAA acted on supposition.

Depends. They all keep the contents for some period of time and the NSA probably has it all.
