jj had 4 td passes in 12 games id say he is getting left behind if the qb competition is even close to a real competition

I've seen a lot of anger from LSU fans directed at Bama due to the pre-season rankings.

They typically point out that Bama will be breaking in a new starting QB.

I find this ironic because of LSU's QB situation the last few years.

Do you corndogs really think Jordan Jefferson can take you the distance?

It seems to me that you guys are pinning a lot of hopes on a guy who has had 3 (or so) good games in his career...and even in those games he didn't produce great numbers.

You're acting like things are exactly the same, with no improvements made. They're not.

JJ played well in the Cotton Bowl. LSU hired a new OC with a rep for developing QB's. And LSU's OL is infinitely better at protecting the passer than UA's.

Throw in the fact that UA lost their best WR and TE, and LSU is far deeper at both positions than UA, and there's no comparison which QB will be coming into a better situation next year.

Here's the problem...

I hope Mett pushes JJ to get better, but JJ didn't get better this year when he was being pushed by JL, so I'm not hopeful for that.

I don't see Miles starting Mett at any point (barring injury) next year. Doesn't matter how practice goes - no chance he's sitting his senior. Hopefully Mett will see some garbage time snaps though, and we'll get 2 productive years out of him.

I expect Mett to come in and run a package similar to how LSU had for Ryan Perrilloux when he was being groomed to take over from Matt Flynn.

sadly beam i agree with you. miles has a massive hard on for jj plus jj being a sr means mett probably wont get a real chance. I hope im wrong though because if jj plays all year we wont sniff a sec west title. we will be fighting to stay in the top half of the west.

im just holding out hope that with krags everyone starts off blank and whoever is the best wins and that would mean its mett.

oh well one game makes all the shite that jj did last season go away he wasn't even that good in the cotton bowl. he still made horrible passes and was wildly inaccurate at times. JJ is not the answer to us winning a sec title or even beating oregon. our d might end up being better than last years but i think its going to take them a few games to replace pp and shep so that means the o needs to put up numbers fast and jj can't do that. he is actually regressing

I think this is realistically the most we can hope to see of Mett in 2011.

I fail to see how one bad QB can be pushed by another bad QB.

I don't think JJ was ever really pushed by Lee....JJ probably knew he would start or atleast get the majority of the snaps.

Not sure why you're laughing. He's gotten exactly as many QB's to the NFL as Petrino has.

Touche, but does it really matter? Point is, JL was for a short time splitting series with him, so that is being pushed (no matter how bad JL actually was).

If that didn't push him, Mett isn't going to push him either. Mett might sail past him, but JJ ain't getting pushed anywhere.

Yep - and sadly, I best bet of winning the SEC might be JJ getting his arse kicked by Oregon. I'm sure Chavis will watch some Auburn-Oregon tapes though; but all this #1 talk would die down in a hurry if we lose the season opener.

If you watched that game, the stadium field was a big factor in making it as close as it was. I've never seen so many players slipping and sliding. It looked like football follies on ice.

I expect LSU will be able to run at will, and anything JJ does will be gravy.

our dline should be able to create problems for oregon but this is the type of o that works chavis so we will need the offense to produce. also id imagine kelly is going to have oregon fired up after being so close to winning it all and having some of his play calls plus darron thomas cost him a nc.

I hope so, b/c we damn sure aren't going to be throwing at will on them.

I haven't seen any Cowboys games this year, but is it safe to assume that slippery field was simply an anomaly? If so, I'm sure they'll get that fixed b/t now and September.

except jj has the distinct possibility of keeping oregon in it because of his stupid mistakes he is prone to making.

oregons d is going to blitz him all day and i dont think jj can read a d so when we have to pass we are in trouble if jj is at qb

also like i said chavis is known for sucking wind against an offense like oregons. see the auburn game and his amazing 440 rushing yards he allowed or the ole miss game

Yeah, that is the depressing thing. Even with 8 months to watch the Auburn tape, I'm not confident in stopping that kind of attack after watching us play Auburn and Ole Miss this year. If we don't establish a run game real quick, it could be a long night.

Oh well, I'll be there either way!
