As in up-downs, hella running, 100 yd bear crawls, etc..

We did it in high school all the time.

It was effective in most cases.

I have no clue, but if you have to resort to that stuff to punish a college player I think you have bigger problems.

I'd be surprised if SEC coaches make the players do updowns still.

Most do. Les conducts an online poll from other players.

Really? College kids are just that. Kids.

18 and 19 year Olds make mistakes

you're barely out of high school

It's effective as hell in middle school football too. My son (8th grade safety) screwed around in a 7 on 7 camp last week and coach has his arse doing up-downs for what seemed like 30 minutes at practice yesterday. I guarantee you he'll show more awareness as a defender and won't let anyone burn him in practice today.

Some people do, but I think it's stupid. If you are in top shape, what is going to be learned by running stadiums. Not a damn thing. Sit them.

College athletes hate running shite drills when the rest of the team doesn't have to. Also, a lot of these coaches require these physical punishments to be done early in the morning which is as much punishment as the exercise.

Doesn't matter how in shape you are, you can still get your arse kicked. Repetition my friend.

Hell, when we played like shite in a game our coach would make us do up-downs at halftime

I saw video of our players having to do them the other day. They also have to do push ups for dropped passes and stuff like that. I even saw coaches and beat writers having to do push ups.
