One of my good friends that is a Bama alum, buddies with Bill battle, and very high up in the alabama hierarchy spends more time on social media talking about Auburn than Bama and his family combined.
Not all of them are obsessed, about equal with the Auburn fans, but it's kind of hysterical that they act like they don't. Their greatest coach ever was a bit Aubsessed.

Most fans are conflicted in how they want their own program run but are unified against the opposition by default. Basically like politics.

this has always been the problem with AU. It starts up top and trickles all the way down to the fans. You will always be mediocre because you are always trying to catch Bama. If Auburn moved to the East and didnt play Bama every year they would be so much better off.

Auburn is a great program with tons of history, one I like to pull for, but it's not the big dog in your state.
Much like South Carolina, there's a definitive Big Bro and Little Bro. Big Bro gets a kick out dishing out wedgies, neck slaps, and embarrassing Little Bro in front of their nerd friends, but they don't hate them. If anything, it's the opposite.

Bama and Auburn fans don't hate the other. They are eerily supportive of each other. It used to annoy me a bit. bama fans were very supportive of Auburn on their way to the championship with Cam. I would say bama fans are probably slightly more supportive of Auburn than vice versa but not necessarily by a lot. Keep in mind, most of the people I know are auburn and bama fans.
