I want to the thank trant today from lifting my spirits by reminding me some of you are so butthurt. I expect incentives were offered and shared with Cam during his time at Auburn. He never got 200,000 or 180,000k like the narrative created suggested. He truly has been a gift that keeps on giving.

Evolution of rule breaking in the past 10 years has been more toward once a kid is on campus. There are certainly stories in recent years of kids getting a little something (funneled through family, family friend, or in some cases the HS coach or administrator).
But now you see more kids getting money through memorabilia. Giving away gloves they wore in a game and then getting some of the money later once those gloves/shoes/whatever are sold. Its much harder to track, its strictly cash, and the player is almost always just "giving it to a friend". The person actually paying rarely ever sees the kids. This is happening on virtually every campus now.
As for the AU/Cam thing, I'm not sure AU did anything at all there. I get the reason people feel they may have - past reputation of the school and Trooper didn't help - but the compliance dept at AU put on an absolute clinic in how to handle investigations. If NCAA could have pinned anything on AU they would have. They couldn't and that either means nothing was there, or AU has incredible compliance, or both.

Classic.
If no one else was going to post it, I was.

I miss that crazy SOB.
He was always good to make people's heads explode. I liked how blindly Allin2010 would defend Troop. Nevermind that Troop was a big reason Gus left after 2011, a huge part of the problems of 2012, and Gus knew better than to keep him on board in 2013.

Not sure how old you are, but I used to spend at least 2-3 weekends each month in AU while in college. Craig has a sweet (for the time) RX7. I've heard stories of Keith McCants having a Mercedes while still at Bama. That type of extravagance is a little less now, but the memorabilia thing is pretty rampant.

House sitting seems to be another popular trend.

Hell at this point, I'd pay Cam (or even John Parker Douchebag Wilson) in blow jobs just to play one quarter for Bama.

This is like the OJ question, people are going to believe what they believe.

$200K-$180K is a shite load of money. I am sure he got some form of impermissible benefits but with all of the banking regs. etc. it would seem pretty easy to document unless all it was under the table and Cecil still has it in a suitcase in his attic.
I thought it incredible and didn't believe that Bama would pay $150K for a player until it was proved otherwise. Given AU's history, it wouldn't surprise if it was paid as they have some deep pocket boosters who are capable of it.

not saying we wouldnt have bu we didnt in this case. we found out MSU had already paid the $ plus some of Mrs Merlins pussy. then we got it on tape and blackmailed his arse into playing for us for free.

We got our money's worth, that's all I say when people ask

quote:They don't pay that much. The price is what got all the other programs so upset, imo: if Auburn ponied up that kind of change for Cam, then every other school would have to dole out similar cash for the next player of his caliber. No way Stayyate could ever come up with that kind of cash on a regular basis.
All major programs cheat and paying players is still alive and active.
$500 envelopes, $100 handshakes, unbelievable car deals, approved mortgages, jobs for family members, sporting girls to snap the bean - that's all easy and relatively cheap. Shelling out half a million a year for blue chips, on the other hand, would start pricing some of the lower tier programs out of competition.

hmm.....great analysis, my previous statement stands true again
You've offered zero analysis. You've put your fingers in your ears and called people stupid. The fact remains that players, many of them the center of major recruiting battles, become Heisman candidates every year and help their teams win. Where are the "ongoing investigations" for RGIII, Mariota, Ingram, and Tebow? The last examples of a team and player being "persecuted" for winning? USC/Reggie Bush, Manziel/aTm, and Winston/FSU. I'll give you that winning puts a target on your back, but in all three of those cases where there was smoke there was fire. Those are facts, and I'm sorry if they hurt your romantic notion of college football and Auburn being pure as the driven snow.

There was smoke and fire. A MSU booster and Cecil Newton tried to get money out of MSU. Auburn and Cam were investigated and found to do nothing wrong. Sorry that doesn't fit your narrative.

Ah thats it, give examples of it not happening to disprove something in which you obviously didnt comprehend. you are on a roll. Would you like some examples that disprove your original statement as well? its pretty damn easy to find them

Way to dance around actually refuting anything I said. At least the other guy tried. Post more emoticons though, they really drive home the "I made a dumbass point and will deflect instead of defending it" thing you have going.

Do you mean the points you made about myself that you made up? those things or the others where you deflected on Auburn fans in general? which points exactly? You came in here with a bunch of nonsense and got mad when you get called out on it and continued with the diatribe. sorry you can give it but cant take it.
